I got these beautiful orchids at the grocery store yesterday.

Sitting in the front window in my living room.

So pretty.

You can see a bit more of the purplish spots in this picture.

++++

Pay Day!:  Mwahaha.  Got my first paycheck today.  It was quite lovely.  :D  And even lovelier is that I have a three day weekend, thanks to Memorial Day.  My parents and I are planning to go see POTC3 on Sunday.  Need to spend some time with Captain Jack, savvy?  ;D

Work has been good.  I'm getting more and more used to things, I'm familiar with almost all of the full-time instructors now, and I'm grading exams here and there, when time permits.  It's been really nice, too, because my coworkers have been really awesome.  The other day, Nicki and Maria invited me to go out with them on our lunch break - it was to McDonald's, LOL, but it just felt nice that they thought of inviting me along, y'know?  I sit with them and a couple other people every day at lunch, and we get along really well.  Trade snarky commentary about annoyances of the day and such, hehe.

Best story of the week: the guy who called and harassed probably 10 different people at work about something, and ended up threatening, "I'm going to call the FBI!!11!"

ROTFLMAO

You do that, buddy.  Let us know how it goes.  I'm sure they'll drop everything for you and your maniacal complaints about a non-profit correspondence homeschooling program.  Top priority, yo.  For sure.  Terrorists?  Pfft, who needs to worry about them!  It's those homeschoolers, man.  Watch out.  ;D

And of course, there are the never-ending calls from students and/or their parents and/or their high school counselors that are basically along the lines of, "ZOMG I SENT IN MY LAST 5 EXAMS THREE DAYS AGO WHY HAVEN'T YOU GRADED THEM MY SCHOOL NEEDS THE GRADES BECAUSE I GRADUATE TOMORROW!!!ELEVENTY!!"

Charming little darlings, really.

It amazes me how many people seem to think that they can blow off their work, send it in last minute and then act like we should drop everything, forget about fairly grading exams in the order we receive them, and fulfill their every demand.  Even better is when a student has done something like this, and we find out they've Partialed (ie. failed) at least 2 of the 37522465237 exams they sent in a week before their high school graduation.  (If this doesn't make sense, we have regular high school students who will take one or two courses through us as a way of getting additional high school credits that their school may not offer, or as a way of trying to approach a subject they have trouble with in a different way in hopes that it will work for them better, etc.)  I don't know who is worse in these cases - the kids or their parents.  Oy.

I can't even understand it, because when I was finishing up high school through here, I got my exams in on time.  It's really not hard.

Anywho, I need to go fix myself dinner.  Thought I'd share the pictures, and I hope y'all like them!  :)

PS:  Woo, less than a month until I'm 24!  And only about 7 weeks until Lisa is here!  :D
