I woke up to the news that Flagg had passed away overnight, courtesy of a close friend who felt it would have been wrong for me to have found this out on LJ, Facebook (where I'm not a member yet), FetLIfe. (Thank you.) This was followed by texts from some other friends and a phone call or two to discuss and to mourn.
I would not say were were close friends, but he always had a warm greeting and a smile for me. His lectures were always wonderful, informative and thought provoking -- both in terms of my own thoughts and how evil his thoughts could run. Due to health issues, I know he refrained from sweets, yet he would make an exception for things I made. Sometimes shared at a gathering, other times delivered through mutual friends, they always brought him great pleasure and I was glad to be able to do that.
I have been struggling with words to express what I feel, but others have posted before me, perhaps more eloquently.
He is suffering no more. He left his mark on our community and his book will serve as his legacy. May he continue to reside in the hearts and minds of those who knew him and whose lives he touched.
My deepest condolences to his family, close friends and the pack. Flagg will most certainly be missed.
loss,
