I've picked up that a lot of people have different speech patterns when speaking with me. Often times people will drop any accent they have, and they tend to use proper grammar even if that's not usually the case. I project this is because I have a high tendency to speak properly and people are matching this.
Every now and then people will pick up nuances and catchphrases of people around them. I personally have likely picked up a number, and I've noticed when others use my personal nuances in particular if I've never met them before.
Where I'm going with this is on a trend of one of my exes that I had difficulty interpreting at the time (likely leading to conflict between us) to narrate. From an objective standpoint narration is one of the more neutral activities one could have in that it could be meant as an insult (eg: You just shit on yourself didn't you) or a compliment (eg: You just won a gold medal!). Because of the power of sarcasm there is of course a little bit of blurring. A person could mean 'this is the best drink I've ever had!' as a compliment but if I've made it while feeling vain and knowing that I didn't quite get it right I could interpret it as a mockery.
So obviously there was a bit of wonder on my part when I got a new co worker fresh from Baltimore who has a number of my speech patterns and tends to narrate the activities of others while simultaneously sharing the same lisp of the aforementioned ex girlfriend. The fact that this person seems to like me makes one wonder if that ex actually liked me the whole time....
I should just go to sleep and leave this poor journal alone
