Hey there hi there,
We just got back from our honeymoon in portland. Originally we were planning to go to New York, but Julie just got hired by the Boise school district and they wanted her back sooner. But it doesn't matter because the honey moon was great. We basically had a foodies honey moon. We started out be eating at a new-too-us sea food place. And it was great. That night we ate a Poppa Hyden's (spelling?) and damn their steak is orgasmicly good!!! We went to all of our favorites Marakesh, Obas, Tai Ginger all the good stuff.
We also went to the Portland Zoo (Julie really wanted to see the elephants). And of course you have to go to the Saturday Market. And we hit my favorite spot, Powells. How can you not love that place? It is a five story building that takes up a whole city block and is completly filled with books.
In addition to the good times we made sure to pick up some Glutin free goodness. The selection in Boise is rather limited (and I should add that I too may be Gluten intolerant) so we stole an empty cardboard box and went crazy at whole foods. Any body who knows any other gluten intolerant folks should advise them to go to their bakeries gluten free section...oh so yummy....
I have to say it was really nice having waiters who knew what we ment when we told them that Julie could not have gluten. Frequently we have to explain that Julie cannot have any wheat and then Julie will select a meal and it will come back covered in bread. It was also great having some time just for the two of us.
We figured out that this has been the first real vacation in years for the two of us. So it was really nice for her to not have to think about teaching and for me to not be constantly surrounded by my job and my loving in laws. And I mean that last bit with total affection for my in laws. ok well gotta go
