I'm sitting here in the Atlanta airport. As I came up the escalator into my terminal to make my connection I noticed a pair of military men (actually a man and a woman) sitting on the floor on their computers plugged in to power in the wall. i walked past them for a few steps and then backtracked and invited them into the Delta Crown Room club

He's lucky enough to be leaving after August 1 instead of before it, which means it's a 12 month tour instead of 15. It's his third tour of the war, but his first since his daughter has been born 23 months ago.
My brother has wanted to join the military since he was in second grade, or at least, we have documented proof in his "what I want to be when I grow up" book that my mom filled out every year, he may have wanted it from before that. This particular war is not something he necessarily wanted in second grade, but he has a deep rooted love of country that goes beyond any particular conflict.
He is career military, and as such, the active duty tours are very good for his career. It's hard to get promoted beyond a certain point without combat experience. It may have been a mistake to start this war. I sure wish our intelligence budget (and the military budget in general) hadn't been cut back so much under Clinton. I think we acted on bad intelligence. I wish the current Bush were a better leader, or at least that he'd been willing to listen to Colin Powell a little more the first time.
I think it's ok to disapprove of this particular war, yet still support the troops who have in their own mind a larger cause, an ideal that this war isn't living up to, but perhaps the next president can help with. I'm getting to the point that I disapprove of this war (certainly the way it has been fought) and I am somewhat of a hawk who thought we should have gone in under Clinton when Sadam first kicked out the weapons inspectors. Not liking the current conflict doesn't mean that I want our nation to stop having a military. I still want the country I live in to have top notch, experienced forces even long after the current conflict is over.
