I read an article yesterday in time magazine concerning young conservatives. They say they dislike Bush and his administration because he does not help this country. Yet, they say they will reluctantly vote for him this year. Ok, I know you should be loyal to your party and all, but if you do not like the work the president has done, why would you vote for him. I also find it interesting how young conservatives believ that when a democrat becomes president everything is more conservative, because other republicans gather together to vote against every policy the Democratic president puts up there. So if you wanted a more conservative government wouldn't you rather put a democrat up who is less liekly to screw it all up for you. I'm still bothered that they would vote for Bush when they hate everything that he is about.
Why did the writer even bother wasting time in writing about them? Young conservatives voting for their own party is nothing new. The only reason I could see for even writing about them was the fact that they say they feel stifled in colleges, because everyone is liberal and they feel that they need more attention in a libearl setting. They feel they need to be catered to more. I really do not see how they should be catered to more, since young conservative groups make mroe money than liberal groups in colleges. They have all the funding and support necessary, so they shouldn't be demanding for more funding, support, or even more conservative professors. Most professors just give you their opinions on things, and aren't trying to force their beliefs down your throat. You can listen but you don't have to take everyone's opinion to heart. Besides, why should anyone cater to conservatives, when they are willing to take away the right of affirmative action from the minorities (blacks, spanish/latinos/hispanics, women etc.) The young conservatives claim they want to have diversity on campus when it comes to politics, but why can't we have diversity when it comes to the minorities in this country. If affir, ative action is taken away there would be a decrease in the amount of minorities in college. Already it has been proven in states that don't have affirmative action like California and Texas that mostly whites are in college, while minorites have decreased. Minorties and whites have also been segregates, with minorties placed usually on one campus where the quality of education is lower, while whites have been put on bettr campuses. So really, I cannot see why this country has to cater to young conservatives.
This all makes me sick and tired. I am tired of ranting. Good day.
