this past blizzard, current bitter cold and stress of the season has left me with the worst fibromyalgic flare up in 2 years. i basically have to sleep it off and keep really warm. my fibro has eased up in the last 8 months, which made me forget i had it. then i get whomped. this is another reason why i want to live in a more forgiving climate.
all this got me thinking about the early settlers in the northland. how did the native americans keep warm in this unforgiving climate, and did they ever just think, shit, we picked a really crappy place to settle? i remember reading some history about a settler having to carry a letter across a frozen lake and his feet froze off. how did they keep warm? i mean, i know they had lots of fur and fire, but really. it must have taken more than that.
i must go sleep now.
