So I've successfully moved to Madison now and I really, really like it here so far. I love my apartment, it is on top of a hill and allows a great view of the area, especially at night. I don't have much furniture yet, in fact some people would call me stupid for what I have bought (42" plasma TV and an entertainment center for it is what I have so far lol) and I have the absolute most comfortable bed ever to exist in the world, everyone is welcome to come try it out because I know it to be true.
Really amazing story though about getting the bed, and a tribute to the people of Madison. My parents bought me a bed for my birthday and we had arranged to have it arrive the same day I got here. In the morning when we were starting to move in, the bed people called us and said that it had been damaged in transit and we were going to have to reorder, it would have been another 3 weeks until I had a bed so my mom canceled the order and we went to Sam's Club to get a bed. So we picked out this incredible serta queen size mattress with a pillowtop and all and we figured it would fit in the car. (I'm driving my parents Ford Explorer for now) Well we get out and discover that there is no chance it's going to fit...and we're standing there just scratching our heads wondering what the hell we're going to do with it when out of the blue a woman with a big red truck drives up and asks us if we need some help with it. She offered to follow me back to my apartment with the mattress and box spring in her truck bed! I mean really how many people out there will go out of their way like that, change their entire day to help some complete strangers out of a jam. Amazing, one of the nicest people I have ever met.
And it has been like that everywhere, everyone I've encountered here has been very friendly and helpful, I love that.
One downside is that I can't get cable installed until the 16th, a week from today, but amazingly they have TV antennas now that are very strong so i bought one and you know what? This sucker picks up all of the local channels perfectly and IN HIGH DEFINITION! So not only am I getting the local channels perfectly, but they're in HD too. I didn't know they sent HD signals over the air, but it's phenomenal and my TV is stunning. However, the only way I can get an unsecured wireless signal I can use for internet is sitting on the balcony and the last couple of days the temperature had not even been out of the 30s, but it's not quite as cold today and looking off of my balcony into a bunch of trees and the hills in the distance is great, and if I lean over the railing a little bit and look to the right I can see the huge rockets at the space and rocket center. This complex is really quite nice.
So other than my bed and TV I don't have any real furniture yet, I'm using my AK Rocker game chair to sit on, but I love that chair so I'm ok for now, but I need to get a couch soon for whenever people want to visit.
And in 2 days I get to start my awesome new job, I am very excited for that.
This has all just been going so well lately any doubts I had of this being the right move for me have been erased and I'm getting very comfortable here.
