It’s Round 2, and it’s SUDDEN DEATH, or something.

We're now, at long sodding last, into Round 2 of Lovely of the Year 2007. 40 contestants slugged it out over 80 groups, with only 16 progressing. Despite repeated claims to the contrary, they're not joined in the second round by any highest-scoring runners up, because I couldn't be bothered counting the votes and it would only mean more ( Read more... )

Oh God. Can't you just put all of the names in a Very Nice Hat and pick one at random? ;)

Oh very well then, I have voted but if a couple of warm shandies and a quick feel around inside a Jolly Nice Hat is good enough for the Nobel Prize committee then it ought to be good enough for you as well.

Anyway. Does the winner get a prize or something like that?

I think publicansdecoy tends to make a Certificate, which then invariably ends up being sent to the Official Residence of the President of Zimbabwe. So I could do that, but I think if either of me or James Ward wins then the other should be forced to conduct an Official Ceremony, with a Sash.

I bet the President of Zimbabwe has all of his certificates proudly on display in his office. What a lovely thought.

You should definitely send a certificate and ask them to record an acceptance speech so that we can all share in the joy and feel like we have really contributed to something. Unless it is either you or James Ward, in which case photos of you both looking awkward, pretending to congratulate one another and wearing what appears to be masonic robes would suffice. Just saying.

If James Ward or I win then the winner should be presented with a robe and a sceptre and a crown by the loser, clad only in pants.

I don't know if I would want to see photos of this or not. I fear that I wouldn't be able to prevent myself from clicking on the link even though rationally I know that No Good Can Come Of It.

Can it be a Burger King crown?
