Five years later, after increasing instances of "how can we miss you if you won't go away", he announced his retirement from Major League Baseball this week. He's going to keep busy with his blog and revving up his video game company.
He's been a dope a few times (see his blog, or his redneck patriotism) but there's no questioning what he did for Red Sox fans. And for that I will always be grateful. As always,
