A side note...

In regards to This Article.

First off, let me say that this guy is a self-described militant atheist and has taken an extremist view. I link to this article, not to endorse his view point, but because he gathered a nice collection of quotes that I would like to share.

Many have heard me speak of my extremely conservative family members and how they are the main reason why the religious right scares me. I provide, for you educational purposes, the following quotes from leaders of the religious right so that you may better understand why they scare the crap out of me, and why I will fight tooth and nail to swing the political pendulum of our country away from them...

RANDALL TERRY, former head of Operation Rescue: "Our goal is a Christian nation. We have a Biblical duty, we are called by God, to conquer this country. We don't want equal time. We don't want pluralism." And of course, his classic, "I want you to just let a wave of intolerance...a wave of hatred wash over you. Yes, hate is good...."

Yes Randall...that's exactely what Christ said. *sarcasm*

JERRY FALWELL: "The idea that religion and politics don't mix was invented by the devil to keep Christians from running their own country." And "If you're not a born-again Christian, you're a failure as a human being."

Because the Bill or Rights was the first step in "robbing" Christians of their country...

PAT ROBERTSON: "The great builders of our nation almost to a man have been Christians, because Christians have the desire to build something. ...The people who have come into (our) institutions (today) are primarily termites who are into destroying institutions that have been built by Christians...The termites are in charge now...and the time has arrived for a godly fumigation."

Yup, he's saying non-Christians are sub-human and seems to be calling for their extermination. Cause that doesn't sound like a genocidal megalomaniac.

Just remember, though you may dismiss them; a huge number of Americans listen and let themselves be influenced by this hate-mongering, and that is the greatest internal danger we face.
