I'm back

Goal: to write more in this silly thing.

Right now I'm thinking more along the lines of top5, top10, movie reviews, but I'll go into some heavier stuff every once in a while.

So, I guess I'll start there.

Why is it when people join the national guard, or are in the army reserve they don't think they are going to war?

I don't want to hear any comments on people in the military having lower IQ's, while there may be a minimal amount of truth to it stupid people are everywhere. What I can't wrap my head around is how one can join something called Army Reserve and not think they will ever get called up. I think it's ok to hope that you wont' go to Iraq or where ever we are busy, but that should enter your head when you sign up.
Example:

Is it sad that Billy died? Yes. Is it a show of the ineptidude of America? No. See, the thing about war is that it is not all about you killing the bad guy. Sometimes that asshole bad guy decides he doesn't want to die and so he kills you first. I feel bad for the family and for poor Billy, but I question the intelligence of someone who signs up for something without thinking it through. I'm sure he was happy to collect the checks he was recieving before he went to Iraq and when the government asked him to serve them in a way he swore an oath to do he shouldn't complain about it.
