Where is your line?

So a recent post got me thinking about this.

I have a line when it comes to Sueishness, in that I can tolerate just about any outlandish or special snowflake character if certain conditions are met. For me, those conditions are as follows:
  • The character isn't a ploy for attention. I think you can usually tell when someone's playing a character just to grab attention rather than because the concept is interesting or necessary to a storyline. These are usually the characters who immediately sit down and tell you about their targic backstories or whom you can immediately see are fel tainted or something like that. On the other hand, characters with tragic backstories that come out naturally and are played realistically or even someone who's fel tainted but tries to hide it... those aren't Sueish to me.
  • The character is played well. This ties into the first, but I'm willing to accept even insanely outlandish concepts if there's good storytelling involved. I really am a sucker for a good story; throw a dragon-in-disguise at me, and if they're RPing it well, I won't roll my eyes or run for the hills. Now, granted, a lot of concepts are very difficult to RP well, but it's almost always possible. Heck, I can even stomach child RPers if they do it well.
  • The character's more Sueish traits came about through RP. This is the one that I'm not always 100% on (e.g., if you became a dragon through RP, unless you're doing the above two as well), but if, for example, your paladin became unbelievably powerful over the course of a long time of RP, I won't be as quick to dismiss it as I will if your paladin decides that they're the most powerful paladin to have ever paladinned the day you roll them. This one is really more my own preference than anything, though.
So how about you? Where are your lines? Do you have any or do you have some things that will just never be good RP to you, no matter what?
