Beginner? Yeah? No. -.-

Beginner means you should stick to the basics, get experience before you start playing something this high-tech. ( Because now she's FAIL with TWO addons! )

dragon in disguise, flagrsp, draenei, lore-crushing

Wow. Making fun of someone for using pewter in their roleplay, which probably does exist in WoW because it can be an alloy of just copper and tin.

This is someone that openly admits they're a beginner, uses capitalization/punctuation well, and aside from the race field and parcel-of-land title hasn't done anything wrong. Confused, angry, and concerned is the look on my face half the time when Lanuria gets an idea, so I don't think it's far fetched.

The next player looks like she's about 14, so bravo making fun of the one teenager that doesn't roleplay as the Punisher. There's no chance that she doesn't know her tauren lore, she's obviously doing it on purpose out of ego.

I hope you feel very good about yourself today. You're really doing your part in the fight against bad roleplayers.

I kind of do have to agree with the first part. Saying pewter doesn't exist in WoW when it's really an alloy of what does is a bit like saying "hedgehogs don't exist in WoW because we don't see any hedgehog mobs!" (I got into a debate with someone over this when my warrior told him not to call her 'Hedgey.')

As for the rest, I also agree; when one sees a Beginner tag, it's probably a better idea to try and steer them onto a more accepted path than to mock them for being a beginner. She'll never know what's wrong with her tag unless you tell her, and making fun of her on a site she'll never happen across isn't helping.

It's one of the most common composite metals in the world all things considered. How one assumes that that isn't possible in WoW (or any game) when you've got metallurgy (smelting) as one of the basic professions is beyond me.

Looking it over the post's rant about pewter not being in WoW and leading to the player being a terrible rper seems to fall on my gradient scale of terrible rp [players], on one end being an rper who knows their lore and abuses it to make a black hole sue that otherwise ruins a story, while on this end being a player incapable of seeing outside of flimsy preset rules, or doesn't want to, and often complains about simple shit.

Wow, Var, why the hate? She's been talked to several times by people who have tried to help her with her char - even going so far as trying to help her keep the concept she wants to play, but make it more adaptable and less lore-breaking. Her response? "lol no ty, I'm good." So yeah - listing one's self as a "beginner", yet not accepting criticism when people try to help you be better? No. She's using the "beginner" tag as an excuse to be bad.

So yeah. Redirect that hate to someone else, please.

And yeah, I just found this out today, so it wasn't prior knowledge. While I feel a hair bad about "overreacting" as it were, finding out that YES, people HAVE tried to help her, and she's shrugged them off, tends to make me just not GAF.

Yeah, the Pewter thing was overreacted. Forgive me, I'd been up for a considerable amount of time, and had just dealt with a mass of raging idiots in several prior dungeon groups (starter DK bracket in OL dungeons as a tank FTL), so my demeanor wasn't exactly stellar at the time of posting.

It still doesn't make being a Dragonkin Baroness Night Elf ok, I don't care what you say. If you're cool with that, then let me go roll my Varian's Second Son Who Is Also A Bronze Flight In Disguise And Owns The Deeds To Stratholme and Scholomance.

Conversations were had with her guild leader (because her guild is very anti-Lorebreaking) and effort was made (so I was informed) not only by her guildmates, but by other people in the community to help her actually work with what she WANTED to play, and adapt it to make it more lore-appropriate. And she basically went "yeah, no thanks, I'm good".

So yeah.

Regardless, I'm done with this conversation, and I'm done beating a dead horse. Entirely too many people (one in particular, actually, but still one too many) are getting asshurt because people aren't agreeing with them.

Btw - comparing me to the president of Iran? Cheeky. Mature.

I think the last time I checked the comments, it was at something like 32. I replied to the few that showed up in my inbox, but otherwise I've pretty much ignored the whole thing.

So yeah. Brb. Going to roll my Lord of the Manor Black Dragonkin who's-actually-a-Mage, because that seems to be approvable, so long as I mark it with a "hey guys, beginner RP'er here".

Thank you for the context. From looking just at your post, it seems as if you're bashing a beginner roleplayer without giving her much benefit of the doubt, but with extra info the situation becomes a bit clearer.

Using the beginner tag as an excuse gets lineface forever.

Yeah, it does come off like that, and I apologize for that fact. It wasn't very clear, and at the beginning, I wasn't aware that indeed, people HAD actually tried to help her (though I got the jest of it from the fact that she's missing a lot of stuff in the MyRP version that is mentioned in the TRP one - so someone obviously HAD said something to her, I was just too tired to put two and two together, I think -.- )

lol mad.

The first one has been posted before, people have tried to help and she refuses the help, she deserves her spot of failure here. I'll give you the part about pewter, though, since it is an alloy of two metals that do exist in WoW.

The second one isn't even a Tauren so I don't know what the hell you're going on about there, but they obviously know enough about lore to know who Thrall is, and they know that Draenei started on Draenor, so they should have enough sense from there to go out and read 5 minutes worth of info about their own race (or just pay attention to the god damn start zone quests). As for the grammar, you learn that shit in second grade, there is no excuse for poor grammar like that except laziness.

Thank you, Blaze.

As I've admitted, the Pewter thing was a little harsh, yes. I apologize for that.

The rest of it? Not a chance.

And as a sidenote - several people I RP with? Are age 12-16, and don't "RP as the Punisher". Way to go singling out the under 18 RPer's there, guy. Because all 14 year olds RP as the Punisher, right?

Who the hell cares how old she is (how do you know?)? You put it out there and it's stupid, you get mocked, no holds barred. ESPECIALLY if she's "obviously doing it on purpose out of ego" (again, how do you even KNOW that?).

That's a LOT of "omg WHAT IF"s to consider when we could be having ourselves a rip roaring Flag shredding.

I know, right? One of my officers is 15 and he's a better RPer than the 67 year old beginner RPer in my guild. Age means NOTHING when it comes to RP skill.
