I'm kind of peeved I can't post on the EU forums, as I was gonna write up a big ol' post about how Stone Dragons are basically the White Dragons of D&D. The Therazane dudes say that they only respond to shows of strength, and are far more primal and savage than any of the "true" Azerothian dragons. Hell, none of them even speak! Not draconic or even an elemental language. They're (so far) just animals with a roughly draconic form, and that's not something you want running around in cities (without a hunter as a leash).

As to the "HE'S RILLY AN EARTHEN!". Earthen don't come from Deepholm. Earthen became dwarves or troggs. End of list. There are no stone dragons on Azeroth. They weren't around to be gifted by the Titans as reptilian ubermensch guardians of Azeroth and its primal forces. There already are dragons designated to look over the earth and all its landmasses, and they went fuck-all crazy thanks to Deathwing.

Deathwing was experimenting with draconic breeding, yes, it's true. The Chromatic Flight and his own inbred offspring (after Grim Batol) are the result. The Nether dragons are the result of pure black dragons in their eggs being exposed to the chaotic forces of the Nether in Outlands. The Twilights are Sinestra's answer to the failed Chromatics, products of experimental Nether-warped breeding. The stone dragons are not connected to Deathwing at all, save for his cowing of them by brute strength when he arrived in Deepholm.

This poster's logic is inherently flawed, as outside of an alchemical transmutation into a stone dragon, they are not sentient nor are they as intelligent (and therefore rational) as Azeroth's true dragons. An alchemical transmutation would give one an appearance of a stone dragon, yes, but, excluding all "real" alchemical consequences (Fullmetal Alchemist aside), the person would retain their humanoid mind. They wouldn't suddenly gain all the bonuses one would have being born a true dragon. It's even more badass being an alchemist who discovered this ancient formula that gave them the ability to transmute their flesh and bones into the shape of a stone-encrusted pseudodragon rather than copping to the LAWL IM A DRAGGGOOONNNN~ bullshit.
