Because just working with someone isn't enough

I've been increasingly testy lately, and my fellow roleplayers on Moon Guard are not helping.

I'll be straightforwardly ragey about this:  I hate the institution of slavery.  I hate it with a passion.  What I hate more is people who go out of their way to roleplay a slave--not to explore the question of whether involuntary servitude is a bad thing, but to satisfy some kind of domination fetish.

I reject the idea that I'm being too quick to judge other roleplayers in this matter, because I have yet to meet a slave character who didn't look like this:

No, I am not going to be tolerant of this.  I am going to put my foot down.  Slavery is not a question of personal preference; it's the legal status of not being a person, but property a la a cow or a chair.

Why the hell is a night-elf DRUID a slave to a human?  How does that even work?  I don't think you can strip a foreign national of their "person" status, much less own one--not if you want to keep the night elves as allies.  And you could convince me in three words that a druid's not going to put up with that crap, regardless of who's involved.

Slavery is a horrible, degrading, dehumanizing institution, one that was rightly ended in the Western world and should be ended everywhere.  All you have to know is human nature and some history to know that it's a disaster waiting to happen.  I'm not talking about limited-time indentured servitude, which was entered into by contract at least semi-voluntarily; I'm talking about the kind of thing that allows someone to brand you--as in, an indelible mark to show that you will never again be your own for the rest of your life.

That cute little motto up there about happiness?  That tells me Tiramae here was too damn busy texting her BFFs about RPattz being hawt during history class to pay attention!

Think your parents interfere with your me-time, kiddo?  They only have limited control over you.  If you're a slave, you have no time.  You have no rights.  You're an asset, and every moment you spend not doing something, your owner is losing value.  No shrewd businessman is going to let that happen.

TL;DR version:  Good men and women gave up their health, their fortunes, and their lives to put an end to slavery.  They still do.  People like Tiramae here are basically spitting on their work and their legacy, pronouncing them misguided and even dictatorial!

...And now that I have raged, I am done.

blatant erper, flagrsp, night elf, ic actions have ic concequences, moon guard is made of fail, you make me sic, terminally screwball, exposition, controversial statement
