After three years in the ground, I'm thinking Mr. Death Lord of Blood would be more than a little decayed.
Also, it makes me a little sad that draenei guild leader doesn't understand ic and ooc. I've seen draenei death knights played well, but they weren't exactly paragons of the light.
This is why my DK has major trauma. She was a paladin and now she is CUT OFF FROM THE GORRAM LIGHT and she CAN'T go home again because NO DRAENEI IN HER RIGHT MIND WANTS DEATH KNIGHTS HANGING ABOUT. So she lives in apathetic merchood with no cause and acts all lethargic and bland because she has no purpose anymore and that's the best she can do.
She doesn't angst. She doesn't act a' cheery. She doesn't pretend to be a paladin. She doesn't hang about with her old friends. She just does what she can and tries to act alive.
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. DKS ARE DKS PEOPLE.
Also, I'm seriously tempted to have a character with a scar across one eye. AND IT WOULD HAVE TAKEN OUT THE DAMN EYE. Cos, y'know, that's what happens when someone CUTS YOUR FRAKKING EYE. THERE WILL BE VISION LOSS. And she wouldn't have a cool eye patch. She'd just have this gross ugly empty socket. ...and then she'd run around falling down stairs because she wouldn't have depth perception.
I'm not saying that there's only one way to play a DK (one of my favorite DK players is cheerful enough-- with a very scary bad side), but you're absolutely right, there are some things they just can't feasibly do any more. Especially in such a light-driven culture as the draenei have
( ... )
By "cheery" I was referring more to the sun-lollipops-and-puppies "Everything is totally fine and nothing in the world could possibly be wrong" DKs that act in a way so's you'd never think they'd been KILLED or FUCKING ENSLAVED AS UNDEAD or, y'know, any of those things that really shape the DK experience.
Also, I have this awesome mental image now of a birdie-druid bonking his head against a wall like normal birds run into windows.
