Revenge of the Cutefase!
And now for another Repeat Offender! Yays.
Some months ago, I posted a Wall of Cutefase which, to my mind, remains one of the worst RSPs I've ever seen. It amouted to basically bludgenoning the reader over the head with a block of text emphasising how she was the most wonderously beautiful and gosh-darn fantastic creature that had ever walked the surface of Azeroth, comparing her to a goddess (!). That she was also the high preistess of Rakastan was just a bonus.
However then I found a newer versioon of her RSP. And it just got a lot worse.
What could be worse then a Wall of Cutefase, you ask? How aobut a Wall of Demon-Posessed Cutefase, I answer. That's right, its demon posession, that most overused, badly played, badly plotted, badly exocuted and just plain awful chracter sterotype.
But the thing is, its not just a demon who's taken this Cutefase. It's Hakkar himself who's calling the shots here. That's right, this girl is serving as the vassal of en evil Blood God of death and destrucity and stuff. Boy, does that sound presumptious or what? "Yeah, my chracter is so special becuse she's got Hakkar inside of her" and all that. Bleach. I'm sure that Hakkar has better htings to do other then posessing Cutefases and making them do evil stuff, like, say, manipulating the Hakkari towards his own ressurection and stuff.
Oh yeah, and Hakkar can only be summoned form within Zul'gurub. So I'd love to know how he got in there...
Despite being the avatar of a blood-soaked elder god, Cutefase of Evil goes for the sympahty vote straight away. "Oh noes, she is just a hollow shell and a victim of teh ebil guy Hakkar!" she bemones to great lenghts. She does rieterate parts of her old RSP by stating that she was "once so beloved". Yeah, right. I'd love to know who she was once so beloved. Here's a hint, sockpuppets, alts and invisible NPCs don't count. And I know that none of my chracters would have felt that way either.
However, this wallowing in slef-pity hides a nugget of pure brane-searingness. You see, our Beloved Cutefase is no longer comprable to Elizi (the semi-canon Loa of love and beauty, whatever that would mean to a Troll). No, she's both the champion and avatar of said Goddess. Wow. That's flooring to me. Not only is she the avatar of a goddess, but she's also construed the most hyperbolic way to say "my character is beautiful" that I can think of.
(That being said, I still want to know what "love and beauty" would mean to a Troll. My guess is it wouldn't be what Sue here thinks it is. "Love" could just mean "doing the nasty" while "beauty" could very well mean "good hips for baring children and a big set of fangs". Remember, kiddies, the main roll of a female Troll is to make little Trolls)
So get this, she's the avatar of two differnt gods. Wow. That is pretentious.
But what gets me is the last paragraph, which pretty much sums up the number one reason why I hate "demon posession" plots. Why" Becuse it amounts to "I'm going to do evil stuff now, but its not my chracter's fault." or, in other words, you can be bad and not have any concequences.
