[Private entry in ship's log]
After five straight days of aerial gunnery drills we're finally showing some improvement. Pegasus simply wasn't built to engage flying enemies, but with things like Millennium out there we need to be capable of hitting targets whether on land, sea or air. We've eaten up a lot of ammunition, but I'm sure it's worth it. With a few more modifications to the cannons and a lot more practice, I'm confident we'll be able to hold our own if need be. At least that airship will make a nice, big target if we ever have to take it on.
There's a lot of tension in the air these days. A lot of rumors going around, no matter how strongly I discourage them. Some people say that Enma's going to conquer the whole Kingdom, others are saying that they're abandoning all their territories. Hyrule's recruiting from outside Eigisengoku, while Figaro just took a major hit, either from those vampires, their own people, or both, depending on who you ask. A lot of things are happening, and out here at sea I don't have enough reliable information to say for sure what's real and what's not. The media's completely useless; the biggest news source in the Kingdom is run by gossipy Tengus and can't be trusted. I don't like it, and I don't like the tension. I definitely have to come down harder on these rumors; they're bad for morale and distract the crew from their work.
More drills tomorrow. Whichever gun crew scores the poorest gets to help swab the decks. With motivation like that, I'm expecting much better results.
