September 11

First, I want to send my thoughts and prayers to my friend Stephanie. Her grandmother passed away this morning and I want her to know I’m thinking about her and her family.

Alright, it has almost been a month now. A month writing, a month learning, a month living. I started feeling comfortable last week and now I feel like I have found a routine. It is a very flexible and uncontrollable routine but it is a routine. I know what is expected of me and I do my best to fill the expectations. It’s weird, I still do not feel like I have a job. That may be the best thing of all.

It’s been a while since I mentioned any of the stuff I’m currently into, so here you go:

Music

Ray LaMontagne - Trouble
If you like mellow and acoustic, pick this up. It came out in 2005 and I really didn’t give it a chance at first. After reviewing it again. I’m a fan. ‘Hannah’ is my song of choice.

wakingNorman
The best band you have never heard of and probably never will. Another great acoustic folk style band. They have a fiddle player but are nothing like Dave Matthews Band. They can spice it up every now and then and rock when they need too. Sadly, they broke up, but not before releasing a self-title album and rocking my socks off in College Station a few times. They have a Myspace page so you can check out some of their songs and if you’re interested I’ll send you the album by email. ‘Found’ is my song of choice.

Jon McLaughlin - Indiana
The odds are you have already heard of this guy. But I guarantee I heard about him first. He had a song used in Scrubs last season and I immediately downloaded his album and really dug it. ‘Human’ is my song of choice.

A Fine Frenzy - One Cell In The Sea
Not really my type of music but one song got my attention. ‘Almost Lover’ is my song of choice.

Timbaland - Shock Value
I make no bones about it. I hate almost all hip-hop and rap of the last several years. So when I decided to check this out I had my doubts. Timbaland knows music, and for that I really liked this album. He is a great producer and knows how to make a beat sound good. If you want something different give this a chance, it is not your normal rap album. ‘Way I Are’ and ‘Give It To Me’ are my songs of choice.

Ben Harper
Harper is consistently good. He only makes good music. I recommend anything by him. ‘Both Sides Of The Gun’ may be his greatest effort. It is a double album. One is acoustic and one is electric. A complete showcase of his styling. ‘Diamonds On The Inside,’ ‘Burn One Down,’ ‘Picture In A Frame,’ ‘Get It Like You Like It,’ are my songs of choice.

Movies

The last movie I saw was Superbad. It was everything I expected it to be. Despite all the bad words, it’s a very sweet movie. Team Apatow continues their streak.

Television

Disney Channel and Nickelodeon
I watch this stuff way more than I know I should. Deal with it.

Discovery Channel
Dirty Jobs and Mythbusters always provide entertainment.

History Channel
I still watch it but it’s slowly losing its appeal. They are trying to rip off Discovery Channel too much lately.

It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia
Watch this show. Buy the box set. Thursday nights on FX. Watch this show.

That’s really all I got. I’m happy and that means you should be too.
