random pictures

Here's a couple of stray pictures I took upon coming back home. I didn't really buy any souvenirs during the trip, but when I went to the morning market I was drawn to this cute little bunny in a stall on the street.

She was surrounded by beautiful kimono and other cloths and there were other colors as well, but somehow I was just drawn to the pink one and despite being hand-made (from the same high quality cloth used to make the clothing she was selling), it turned out to be only 900yen. While I made my decisionI made small-talk with the old lady selling them about how I was studying abroad in Nagoya, wanted to be a translator someday, etc - she was INCREDIBLY nice! For the most part, you would think going to small towns would be more racist, but every small town I've been to in Japan is incredibly warm towards foreigners, at least in my experience. Anyway, after she was done wrapping up Miss Bunny for me to take home, she brought me back my change and there was 50yen more than I was expecting (*o*)!!! Because we'd talked for a while, she gave me a discount...LUCKY!!!!

I haven't posted this to Facebook because I'm deciding if I want to give this to my mom or not, but I think I'm way more of a bunny lover than she might be. And a pink lover. Hmmm.

We always have to wear these tags when we go on field trips with the school. Sometimes they mean free admission into any museums we're meant to go to - when we were in Hiroshima, it meant free ferry rides from Miyajima to the main land. This time around it didn't really mean anything other than YOU'RE FOREIGN AND WE NEED TO MAKE SURE WE KNOW IT'S YOU, but mine has a star - this means we had groups (which only happen on the overnight trips) and I was the leader of my group.

Yeah, I was being a dork and just saying "I'm the boss," miming Andy Samberg. B)

The "going-home meeting" notice is now posted on the bulletin board in the main exchange student office area. Weird to think about, but it feels like going to this meeting will finally start the ball rolling. I feel like I can go back to normal soon. Sometimes I don't remember what "sane" feels like.

school, complete randomity, materialism, musing
