Yep, I watched a show. I was in the mood for something with suits and criminal intrigue, so I picked up Naked City (now you know how long it took me to watch it,
jenebi *shame*).
It's kind of hard to describe my feelings. It wasn't a SQUEE OMG SO AWESOMEZ!1 sort of show. It certainly wasn't a happy show... but it was good. The acting was solid (Yumiko was mostly very cool and dispassionate, although every once in a while a cute face came through X3), I really liked the dialogue, and the dancing, and there were at least a few funny bits with Mattsu (oh and those two cops, Yuuma Rin and Mochizuki Rise <3). And it was a show with a lot of character, and a lot of plot, and people changed at the end. You could see the character development. I love character development! :D
And suits. I also love suits. ;-) I didn't like Asuka's main outfit so much though. Kind of frumpy (especially for a '50s film star, jeez :-\). The music... well, I liked the theme song, and I was a bit surprised when they sang "Minnie the Moocher" (sort of - it was actually more like "plot development lyrics sung to the tune of 'Minnie the Moocher' while it plays in the background of a club")... But for the most part... I guess the best way to put it is I liked listening to Yumiko, Asuka, Miwacchi and Mattsu sing more than actually liking (or remembering) the songs themselves. Especially Miwacchi - I mean I knew she could sing, but WOW she just blew me away at the end revue.
*tries to pick up the pieces of a rambling review* Senka / upperclassmen love!! This show had lots. :D Itsuki-san and Itsumine-san and Sachimi Anna and Chiharu (and may I also say that Saori was so CUTE in her toque and glasses, and I've never thought Saori was "cute" before)... Can't decide who I liked best. ^_^ Oh and of course Naru (;___;) and Kirari (<3!) were good too, and I had a two-second spotting of Ougi Megumu and Nozomi Fuuto. ^^
*this is not a tangent, I swear* I think I can YAY SQUEE the most about Soragumi shows, even the most depressing / boring of plays, because I know everyone most of the people in the background as well as the foreground. But when I don't know absolutely everyone, I probably pay more attention to the plot. XDD Like with this show. <3 And really, it was good. Good stuff. :)
So I guess to summarize this nonsensical review... Naked City is a good show if you like plot and character development, and hard-boiled heroes getting caught up in mafia schemes. And otokoyaku in suits, and nightclub dancers, and uh, gangsters hiding out in mannequin shops. X3
(By the way Gen, I liked your
summary. Even though I didn't need it because I understood everything! *beams*)
