Summary for The Second Life

Having lost her fiance Jake Iron to an accident, Lucia Barton loses her will to live and passes the days in wandering. Her friend Kate Miller invites her on a trip to Italy. The two of them plan to stay at a certain hotel in Sicily.
Only a few minutes before the two arrive at the hotel, a hit man is murdered close by. He was Mark Jason, the right-hand man of Don Vincent who controls that area. From sniping to martial arts, Mark's killing techniques were the best in the world. On top of that, he was cool and conceited. In the world of assassins he was the elite among the elite. But a rival organization placed a large reward on Mark's head, and he was murdered...
Jake, on the other hand, was an aspiring pianist. Having been taken up to Heaven just as he was about to achieve his goal of happiness with Lucia, his soul watches over her from the Other Side. But there is trouble in Paradise. God, who has ruled over Heaven for many years, announces he is retiring. Unfortunately, the next in line is his prodigal son. Even after being installed as God, he continues to go about chasing after female angels. Taking advantage of the chaos, Jake sneaks off unobserved and descends back to Earth.
Appearing before Lucia, Jake musters his courage and calls out to her. However, Lucia takes no notice of him. As to be expected, Jake cannot be seen by humans. A heartbroken Jake finds Mark's dead body. At this point, no one has discovered it yet... Jake thinks he can borrow the body in order to be seen by Lucia. But Lucia does not trust the man who unexpectedly appears before her. Jake tries every means possible to approach her, but she refuses to face him at all. Meanwhile, Don hears word of Mark's survival and comes to give him a new assignment. Jake is shocked to learn that his is a hit man.
Having become an assassin, what is Jake's fate...? And what of his love for Lucia...?
