Tempest review, in which I may squee more for Asahina Kei than Wataru.

Mar 17, 2007 20:02

Herein I record my reactions to Tempest. (Check the Wiki page for the cast list and such, as I'm much too lazy today to link people or actually use their stage names.) Damn, Old Soragumi did such hot shows...

Hina, Hina, Hina. Dear god, she gave me enough evil!hot!smirks within the first five minutes that I almost totally forgave her for wearing purple lipstick. ;-P (I suppose it's to complement her anime-blue wig.)

Wataru seems to have kept her hair a bit long & bushy after her stint with a ponytail for Elisabeth. Hehehe. :3

Nettan... in a bad curly mullet sort of wig, but still smolderingly hot!

Ukyokyo hitting on waitresses!

Susshii... in pink... and glasses!! Kissing Nettan's hand!! *dies*

Mimi Anri... is just cool. And she said something in Chinese!

Nettan, oh god, if you put your mouth any closer to Hina's I really will die. *___*

Nettan almost-kissing Hina's cheek is immediately followed by Airi feeling up Akko. This play is obviously trying to kill me.

The next scene opens up with Airi playing cards with babies, among whom I spot Yucchi, Saku-P, Take-kun and Tama-tama. I also notice both Airi and Saku-P wearing ear and hand jewelry. *swoon*

Then Wataru smokes. Do I need to say anything?

Minashiro Hikari looks good in dark hair and leather.

There is something distinctly wrong about Taki-san in a girlish dress with a bow in her hair. Especially when she's singing about supposedly being an "elite spy".

But... oh, Susshii + pink suit + glasses may be my new OTP. LOVE.

Ukyokyo continues to be popular with the ladies. I squee.

Wataru. All in black. Sunglasses.

Nettan. Wearing something only slightly ridiculous. Followed by a posse consisting of Take-kun, Tomochin, and dear me is that Maki Kaoru?

Then everyone gets a little gun-happy. Taki-san lets off a bunch of wild shots. Wataru shoots at a few lackeys before leveling her gun on Nettan. Maki puts her gun to Mimi's head, while Take threatens Airi and Yucchi. Mimi, Airi and Yucchi are Wataru's friends, so she's forced to surrender.

Hina comes back and cackles some more for me us. Fairies are... surprisingly touchy with each other. *___*

Then she SINGS. HINA. SINGS A SOLO. There is so not enough Hina singing in my life. <333

Next, Wataru / Akko / Nettan love triangle dance. Accented by a fairy interlude, including Smirky Hina (TM).

Afterwards, Hina acquires a new suit!

Susshii and Taki again! But Susshii leaves her all alone, and Taki is so scared she does that "write the hito kanji on your palm three times and then pop it in your mouth" thing. Haha.

Following, a on overload of death-making stuff. It goes something like this...

Hina: *fiddles with her shirt-cuffs*
Me: *swoons*
Hina: "Youkoso, ojousan."
Taki: "Maa! Kirei na otoko~!"
Me: *dies*
Hina: *kneels and kisses Taki's hand*
Me: *dies more*
Hina: *puts her arms around Taki and feels her up*
Me: *completely dead*

...and I didn't even translate what she was saying... but it was stuff about doing "this and that... and this... *gropes* Whatever you wish..." *____*

... ... ...

Okay. I don't think I can recover from Hina using the phrase "love slave". *dissolves into goo*

Sometime later, I heard "God Save the Queen" sung in Engrish while Oomine Mayu-kumichou spoke at a pulpit with a Union Jack behind her. She also had a bodyguard, but I couldn't tell who it was. T__T;;

And just as I was trying to decide whether Hina or Nettan was hotter during their conversing and scheming, the curtains parted and... and I just... words fail me but to say...

Wataru. Strapped to a wall. Nettan. Riding crop.

...not to mention they're both clad in black button-up shirts and waistcoats. And that Maki is the one who hands Nettan the... um, the... guh... buh...

*just stays dead for a while*

Akko sings a very pretty solo while Hina smirks / broods in the background. The thing about Hina's Ariel is you really get the sense that no matter how insanely (s)he laughs, he's not really happy. He's just an angsty little fairy enslaved by Nettan!! *pines for poor Hina*

Then we're treated to the obligatory otokoyaku dancing in suits and fedoras. I like Nettan's wig less and less, but the quality of her singing totally makes up for it. Also, Wataru could benefit from wearing a suit that was some color other than purple.

While Wataru, Nettan, Hina & co. take a break for a bit of gambling, Taki and Susshii get a dance interlude. It finally occurs to me that the combination of "ridiculous British spy", "glasses" and "pink suit with ruffled cuffs" makes Susshii almost exactly like... Austin Powers. >___<;;;

And... oh dear, Mimi seems to have gone insane. T__T Nettan puts her arm around Airi and taunts her about it. (Mimi's character is Airi's mother.)

Hikari apparently traded out her leather pants for a mini-skirt. Damn, I was never especially fond of her before, but... *__*

Wataru seems to prefer shooting guns out of people's hands over killing them.

Hikari sings a short angst solo in a low range atypical of musumeyaku. Sweet.

Akko and Wataru have a Talk about past love. Wataru smokes. Later, Akko smokes and I tell myself to stop being so fascinated by the filthy habit.

Akko also leans her back against Wataru's in a very sweet gesture. This inspires the singing of a duet. Hikari appears and angsts again in the background.

Hina cackles and narrates some more. She introduces us to a masque full of dignitaries in elaborate costumes, and sings a song with her fairies whose main lyric is "kibun wa cosmic beam".

Ukyokyo, in a turban, lectures Susshii and Taki, in a frock coat and poofy dress respectively.

Nettan's lackeys get speaking lines! <3 Maki puts her arm around Tsubaki Hiroka (I failed to identify her before) and calls Take-kun "aniki". Heee~

Hina rounds out the "Cosmic Beam" number, and I severely lament her loss. Severely.

Oomine-kumichou appears at the top of the stairs with Yuuki Kaoru, and I realize she must have been the bodyguard before. Nice.

The first act closes with Wataru pointing her gun at Oomine-san, then changing her mind and taking Akko hostage instead. She shoots out the light, runs off with her captive and sings while angstily running her fingers through her hair. <3

And now that it's taken me several hours to write this, what with all the dying and typing mostly one-handed, I'm going to stop at the act break and save the rest of this review for later. ;-P
