Fandom makes me really sad sometimes.
I'm a little late on the boat compared to the Yuki fans, but I've seen more chatter on Twitter than here so I thought I'd say something.
Photos from Mask / RSF currently up on Daily Sports.
That same page a couple of days ago.
Now I have no complaints about the second-to-last picture, as it is not flattering to either party, but I and others found it rather suspicious that the picture of Ami-chan disappeared.
A dedicated exhuming of cached pages -- three search engines and various keywords -- finally brought it back to light again.
Honestly, like most of the Daily Crap these days, it's not even a good picture. What bothers me, on a very deep level, is that enough people must have complained to have it replaced. What other explanation is there? The website heads suddenly changed their minds / realized they needed to step up the quality? I seriously doubt that.
I probably shouldn't spread around conspiracy theories, but I personally believe very strongly in the power of the internet to work for evil, especially when it comes to the poisonous 96th / Ami-chan hate.
Seriously, I know I'm not a model fan. I've done some complaining and still have some fandom issues to work through. But "evil" is the only word I can use to describe the atmosphere of people on the internet who seem to have made it their mission in life to slander the 96ths and make the most absurdly awful insults and threats.
You all may think I'm overreacting. However, I also have an OG example. (Not about 96ths but definitely about internet hatred.)
Remember when Alice-chan was attacked by internet "fans" and took a hiatus from her blog?
Amachaki shut hers down completely.
From what I can gather, she posted a picture that could be considered compromising to someone else's privacy. I do not believe for a second that that person would ask her to delete her entire blog, so I can only assume that the evil power of internet rage crashed down on her. From "fans" freaking out -- about a current seito or OG I have no idea, but almost certainly one of the two -- enough to make her just give up.
Why, people? Just... why?
I will not even go into my worries about Chiko-chan -- that is a whole other can of putrid worms. T__________T
