Looking through all my disks during all that burning last week, combined with my recent conversion to Osa Love, something occurred to me. I could make a post celebrating Osa... or I could expand it to celebrate three Hanagumi otokoyaku and make a whole I Love Flower Top Stars post. :-D Doesn't that sound like a healthy break from the Gospel of Soragumi? ;-) So let's see what I have here...
Maya Miki Miki Miki Miki. What can I say... I mean, what can I not say about this woman. Miki is one of those 'siennes who should be at or near the top of everyone's list of favorite otokoyaku, because she simply doesn't belong anywhere else. (She's in the top five for me. But she has Wao, Touko, Zunko and Tani to contend with, and it's generally difficult to decide on the exact order of such things. ;-P)
Anyway. As others have said before me, Miki is just sex. And she couldn't be much more sexy than in her sayonara show
Speakeasy. In this clip we get to see her character Mac dealing with no less than three lovely ladies, and two of their mothers to boot. ;-) One of my absolute favorite lines from anything is in this clip - not because of the words themselves, but because of how Miki says them. As Mac praises Lucy (
Nagisa Aki <3 <3) for running off her rival Polly (
Sen Hosachi), he says "Lucy, you are my life." To which she replies, "Oh, what beautiful words! Say them again!" And Miki says them again, and I just can't explain... Nobody can make those sounds but Miki, and nobody should ever try. ;-P
(Of course I couldn't just stop right after that, so you also get to see Akiko faking contractions, which allows Miki to escape from jail, sing a fun little solo, and have some intense / passionate moments with the lovely-and-talented
Shino Yuka. And don't forget in the beginning there's bonus
Poppo-san. <3)
Speakeasy - You Are My Life Takumi Hibiki I absolutely loved Charlie in
The Great Adventures of Tom Jones. It's actually the only full show I've seen with her in a lead role, but it's a good one. <3 Full of ridiculous comedy and general silliness which Charlie seems to be brilliant at. ^__^ So it made me even more happy to see her being almost as much of a goof in
Paris Festival 1999. In this clip we get to see her sing "Tout, tout pour ma chérie" with
Asako and
Tamao, subsequently joke around with them for a bit, take off her jacket so Asa can give her a new one, then sing "La mer", partly in English. (And not the worst Engrish I've ever heard, either. ;-P) And there's even some
Maa-chan dancing. In other words, love!
Paris Festival 1999 - Tout, tout pour ma chérie ~ La mer And now, the moment you've all been waiting for. Or maybe you haven't, I don't know. ^^;;
Haruno Sumire Oh, Osa. I will never deserve you, after the many months I spent pointedly not liking you despite so much evidence (and testimony from others ;-) of your greatness.
princesslucia actually suggested I go back through all the Osa shows I've seen to appreciate her more fully... and I probably will do that at some point. ^_^; But for now, I can tell you all from experience that if you think you'll never like Osa,
I Got Music will convince you otherwise. Because I mean, Osa does everything in it. She tap dances. She plays the clarinet. She conducts an orchestra and sings opera and plays the drums. Yes, I think what really did me in were the tricks with the drums. (That and she rolls her sleeves up beforehand. I think you all should know by now what rolled-up sleeves do to me.)
I Got Music - Osa + Drums = OTP Seriously, I don't know how anyone can not cheer and clap after that routine. I certainly couldn't help bursting into applause.
But wait, but wait! I had to stumble upon the rehearsal footage for I Got Music and fall in love all over again. Plus there's Baby Flowers assembling drum stands, and that's just all kinds of cute.
I Got Music - Drum Rehearsals I really wanted to translate some of Talking-Head Osa as a sort of "parting gift" to Lucia (since she's about to embark on her Sacred Pilgrimage to the Shiny Land), but my wrist is already hurting... Maybe later though.
