I'm trying to pretend that i'm not running myself into the ground doing irimachi every day until raku. *weak smile*
So here I am having gotten up at 6:00AM yet again -- I've run all my errands and still appear to have an extra hour.
Lack of sleep makes me contemplative.
More thoughts on Trafalgar
I didn't waste my seat in the 7th row on Tuesday. I watched and I listened closely to things I don't always pay attention to (because yes, admittedly, I close my eyes a lot during certain love scenes these days).
On Horatio Nelson: I finally came to understand why K-san called Yuuhi and Sumika "eroi". Whoever is to blame for the spark going out of Horatio and Fanny's marriage, and even if I think he loses sight of his priorities... With Sumika, Yuuhi is quite... passionate. That kind of intense but quiet passion that Nelson never experiences while at sea, a different kind of passion than he feels for his country / naval warfare.
I can respect Yuuhi for having that kind of passion, and see that she respects Sumika as an actress, even if visually I'm still a little bit :S Top-star-to-musumeyaku age difference is a prejudice I won't easily be broken of.
On Emma: I did feel a tiny bit of forgiveness for Emma, because at her core all she really wants is love. And anyone can understand that, because everyone wants to love and be loved.
But her actions still annoy the crap out of me. >_____<;;; I really fail to understand why she acts so childish and wanton, with only these small moments of "adult" ness... And actually, I've started to think Emma is kind of high-strung / excitable, like she'd kind of be a handful in the long run (SERIOUSLY Dai-chan HOW could you pick Emma over Fanny *flails*).
Plus there's this little gem of a conversation:
Horatio: I've caused my wife pain, and even hurt my son. And yet I couldn't lie about my feelings for you.
Emma: Our deeds are a terrible sin that will not be forgiven by God...
Horatio: That's all right! I love you!
NO IT IS NOT ALL RIGHT AND NO YOU WILL NOT BE FORGIVEN. D:<
On William: I think I finally understand William. It took BonBon's William to show me the difference in Micchan's (this is true of a few people, actually)... Micchan's William is like this boy who never matured past 10 years old. He's been spoiled and surrounded by beautiful, expensive things all his life, and Emma is just one more of those things. But his opinion of himself is so high that it hurts his pride to find that Emma doesn't love him. He doesn't know how to love, himself (any more than a 10-year-old can really dote on something and find it pretty, which is not what love is), but he expects to be loved regardless.
By the end he shows that he almost has a heart, but he doesn't really know how to access it.
On Napoleon: There aren't really any thoughts to revise on Napoleon. He's just The Force Opposing Nelson. Seriously, his character traits are basically "cool, calculating and ambitious". But referring to shinko again, it's great to see the difference between a 20-something's portrayal of ambition and a 30-something's. Tomu ♥ ♥
On Fanny: Fanny truly loves her husband. It's just that she's been waiting so long for him, she waits and waits and he never comes home... She gets so caught up in her bitter thoughts that even when she finally sees him again, she can't remember how to express her feelings and her mouth is full of biting words. She wants to win Horatio back, to put Emma in her place and show that she's more worthy, but she doesn't have any idea how to do it. Her strong resolve gives her the impetus to go out and face the adulterers, but her only weapon is her wit. She doesn't know how to get back to being a charming and loving wife.
But she loves her son very, very much ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
On Josiah: Seeing his stepfather sustain a great injury in battle for him completely turns around his feelings. In his childlike way, he can have pure-hearted forgiveness because no matter how deep the sin he still needs a father figure... And he also understands Horatia's need for one as well. That last scene where he pauses for a moment and looks at the girl with pity, before turning resolutely to follow his mother... Oh god, I'm making myself tear up ;______; Josiah, you save this show for me every time ♥ ♥ ♥
On Tom Allen: He loves Nelson deeply and respects him deeply, and almost needs him to be like an upstanding father as well. It truly pains him to see Nelson changing and losing his perspective, all because of some woman. He wants to take care of his captain, but he runs out in a heat of passion when he gets too frustrated. Still, he comes back ♥ ♥
(Plus I'll always love the way Kacha sings to herself / mutters under her breath / flicks her hand after picking up teacups / etc. Tom's simple-minded but bright-eyed good humor will always make me smile :)
Zun-chan, on the other hand, seemed more impetuous / capricious? Like he does respect Nelson, but he'd just as well serve under someone else if they'd treat him well. He comes back at the end probably because he couldn't think of anywhere else to go :P
...Oops, I started going into thoughts on shinko again, but like I said seeing the proper actresses do it sheds new light on things.
I wish I could say more, especially all the things that Chii-chan said about her character, but it appears I've used up my hour.
Considering all the plans I have, I may not be able to do much more than short posts of incoherent babble until after raku. :(
