The Future of Yukigumi

May 29, 2010 13:01

In an impressive display of Preparation Fail this morning, I forgot to set my alarm to go to irimachi. When I woke up it was about 25 minutes before I needed to leave, so I did the bare minimum to get ready, went out and then came back afterward.

That gives me a little more time to post! So I'd like to talk about a couple of things.

Yumeka Ami. Manda already made a point to say something after the announcement, but I was too busy with Trafalgar, so...

I know that the majority of Zuka fans, both in and out of the country, did not see the bunkasai. Both Japanese fans and foreign fans alike are freaking out about Ami getting a shinko lead right after her debut.

But some of us did see her perform and heard her sing and were impressed. Hearing her sing opera in Italian, and seeing her play the part of a sick girl losing the will to live -- how can one fail to be impressed? She has talent, and she has presence.

It's not really bragging about "we saw her first"... Rather, given the choice between having no information and judging someone harshly vs. knowing at least enough to give someone a chance, wouldn't you want the latter?

And, well, to be honest... I knew the company was just biding their time giving Ayucchi leads. It sucks, but I always got the feeling that her promotion was just "because we don't have anyone else right now". (That being said I don't see why they didn't give Mimi another lead, since in general they seem to like her more.) In that regard I'm not surprised that they've raised up a new young thing in Yukigumi.

It's just a shinko lead. I support Ami because it's just a shinko.

(I don't think this is hypocritical of me, but if it seems that way... It's only because the company forces me into this position by suddenly promoting girls I actually want to support.)

On the other hand, if the board of directors is COMPLETELY out of its mind and wants to make Ami a top star within a year of her hatsubutai... That's going WAY too far.

Like I said, the Japanese fans are saying it too. "Kimu's partner had better not be Ami." I couldn't agree more. That's just madness.

And since I'm so convinced that not announcing a top musumeyaku along with Kimu means she's going to come from another troupe, doesn't that exclude Ami already as well?

I'm very much sticking by this logic, by the way. It's not that I WANTED Kimu's partner to be a transfer, not at all. I'm neither happy nor sad that it's not Mimi, but I was expecting it to be her for the sake of the natural order. (Plus they've been paired together before, and as I said the company appears to favor her. Or "appeared" to... Darn it, this is almost like what they did to Amachaki, now that I think about it...)

So speaking of Amachaki, the rumor mill is bringing up her name as well as Re-re, Ricchii, and sometimes Remi. (No one seems to think Seiko, which I guess is fair because she never had a shinko lead, despite getting two Bow leads.)

...Oh god, it's all so wrong. I wanted to approach this analytically, but it just seems so moronic for Kimu to pick someone outside of Yukigumi. Why would she do that? Why did Kiriyan do that with Marimo, for that reason? I still don't understand it.

In any case, speaking of Marimo, her top announcement came after she finished Coimbra. So internet people's logic is that if it's Re-re or Ricchii, they'll announce it after that girl finishes her shinko lead. If it's Remi... No, you know what, it can't be Remi, with her being in Romeo and Juliette that's pushing it way too close to when they'll needs to start rehearsing for Kimu's top debut show. Whatever it is. :X

That's all, I guess. Suffice it to say I'm really worried about whoever gets chosen. And I'm going to say absolutely nothing on the subject of nibantes, because I seriously just do not want to think about it.
