Bear with me, folks; I might be posting a lot tonight. ;P
So I saw Takarazuka Special 2009 today.
mizukusa posted a clip of the rehearsals earlier, and then sumire_no_hana mailed me regarding a rumor. Going on the fact that, for example, TCA Special '08 2007 contained Matobun & Ayane singing "Me and My Girl", and then Hanagumi ended up performing it in full...
There was a section in the second half -- "Looking Back on 95 Years" -- that was a loooong medley of 'Zuka classics. And considering all the revivals we've had lately, one wonders if the company is dropping some hints.
And so I present to you all the medley set list and my thoughts thereon.
The first three songs were "Takarazuka ni Eikou Are" (otokoyaku tops), "La Belle Takarazuka" (musumeyaku tops) and "Parade Takarazuka" (the three Hanagumisei), which we should all know don't mean anything.
Here's where it gets interesting.
"Amor, Amor" (Nova Bossa Nova) ~ Mizu Natsuki
So I don't think anyone's posted about it yet, but there's definitely an NBN rumor going around. My jury's out on whether or not current Yukigumi will be the best-suited troupe in half a year or whenever... And after all maybe Hoshigumi will get it, since it was Chie's hatsubutai... But then again, there's also no saying that TWO troupes wouldn't do it again.
"Ai Areba Koso" (The Rose of Versailles) ~ Yukigumi
This obviously doesn't mean anything. ^^;;;
"Hana ni Chiri Yuki ni Chiri" (Chuushingura) ~ Otozuki Kei
Kimu doing Chuushingura... One word. SWOON.
"Parfum de Paris" ~ Suzumi Shio x Aono Yuki
I know nothing about this show and think it's less likely to be a clue with Hoshi's sanbante x the next Tsuki top... but hey, you never know. *shrugs*
"Take Off" ~ All the Yukigumi otokoyaku younger than Hiromi
This also is probably not so much a hint as "yay upbeat number with Yuki wakate".
"Kawaranu Omoi" (Black Jack) ~ Ranju Tomu
AUGH. CONFLICT. I love this song, and the image of BlackJack!Tomu is VERY tantalizing. But actually I didn't like "Black Jack" as a show. I recall describing it as "a story about a doctor who doesn't do much doctoring". ^^;;; Now, if they re-wrote the script... (Which they wouldn't, as it defeats the purpose of a revival. :P)
"Kaze no Shamrock" (Eire no Zanshou) ~ Ouki Kaname
It could happen, I guess? Although I'm not fond of Eire either, because I dislike a plot that goes "not much happening... not much happening... ALRIGHT NOW WE WILL RIP YOUR HEART OUT IN THE LAST 20 MINUTES."
"Sagittarius" ~ Ayana Oto, Saou Kurama, Ootsuki Sayu, Manaka Ayu, Maihane Mimi
*shrugs* Doubt this means anything.
"Kaze ni Naritai" (Kokkyou no nai Chizu) ~ Yuzuki Reon
I don't know anything about this show... Something about Germany and the Berlin Wall? *shrugs again*
"Mirai e" (Excalibur) ~ Soragumi
They're not going to do "Excalibur" again, I'm sure; this is just THE Soragumi song. ^_______^
"Glorious!!" ~ Yuumi Hiro, Hasumi Yuuya, Nagina Ruumi, Nanami Hiroki, Hanakage Arisu, Junya Chitose, Aihana Chisaki
Another obvious "Soragumi number". :)
"Endless Dream" (Blue Moon Blue) ~ Hokushou Kairi
Was beautiful and semi-ironic but other than that is likely not a hint.
"Yume no Hate ni" (Ludwig II) ~ Ayabuki Mao
Again with the beauty and irony.
"Hajimete Mita Asahi no you ni" (Ai no Sonata) ~ Oozora Yuuhi
I rule out the possibility of a revival on the grounds that they presumably wouldn't be able to release it on DVD?
"Sekai ni Motomu" (Ouke ni Sasagu Uta) ~ Hoshigumi
Appropriate for Hoshi / Chie, but would they really revive it when Kimura-sensei just put on "non-Zuka Aida" this year? (...Don't answer that question.)
The last number was "Kokoro no Tsubasa" from Tender Green sung by everyone.
Oh but later they also did a "Gone with the Wind" medley, obviously starring Tom. Does she want to add one last Rhett mustache to her collection...? ;)
