Casablanca's "一部の配役"

See, this is why I've said "objectively I'm excited about Casablanca because it's TAKARAZUKA doing CASABLANCA"...

But then sometimes I forget what I'm supposed to be looking forward toThe site promises that MORE roles should be released at a later date, but actually, who cares! There are no other important roles! Random refugees and bystanders in ( Read more... )

Then I remembered that this is Koike-sensei, who for all his shows is said to do...

You may be right, but soragumi has been off for 2-4 weeks depending on the cast. Couldn't he have done auditions then? ^^;

I'm assuming you'll ask Alice-chan about the situation tomorrow?

The site promises that MORE roles should be released at a later date, but actually, who cares! There are no other important roles! Random refugees and bystanders in the club don't need role names!

I hope I didn't come off that way in my entry ^^; It's more that if there aren't going to be a lot of role names, I would rather have a show where people got to do cute things in the background over a show where there were lots of roles names but little stage time for lots of people.

The thing with Takarazuka and characters is that it needs a REALLY large list of role names in order to accomodate everyone. Original plays (such as Paradise Prince) work best for this. Your average Broadway musical wouldn't bother featuring anyone other than the main roles. (Even though Casablanca isn't already a musical, it's still a previously established work).

Pimpernel, for example, actually had to add in that reprise of "You Are My Home" where the League members catch up with their girlfriends. Otherwise there wasn't much for the members of the League (which including a lot of prominent otokoyaku) to do.

And of the few remaining roles, there are a couple of interest. In the movie I really liked the girl who was struggling with whether or not she should sleep with Renault in order to secure letters of transit for her and her boyfriend. And Ugarte (the guy with the letters of transit) gets some good scenes before he gets killed off. And Carl and Sascha (staff) get some good lines and get to rig the roulette wheel ;)

No, it wasn't your post that made me feel that way. I view it as a statement of fact -- Casablanca was not made for an 80-person cast.

I would rather have a show where people got to do cute things in the background over a show where there were lots of roles names but little stage time for lots of people.

So what you mean is, you'd rather there be no pretense of "role name = importance" and just put the majority of people in the background? ^^;;

It's difficult to say what's best. Probably nothing will ever be good as ParaPuri for giving lots of people a chance to show their individuality. And I mean, I know about the changes to Pimpernel and stuff.

Anyway, I should say "something is better than nothing" for Alice-chan... but I'm going to sulk a little while longer. :P

You misinterpret my words, woman ;P You're right, this definitely doesn't look like a great situation. But it may not necessarily be a irredeemably horrible situation. I would rather have underclassmen do cute things in the background over having them not do anything at all.

It's understandable in this situation *hugs*
