Not only is 2009 the 95th anniversary of the Revue... January '09 Kageki marks the 1000th issue of the magazine! It says so in glossy gold print on the front. :) And clearly this calls for...
Julie's Review of the Latest Kageki, Basically Cover-to-Cover
In the category of otokoyaku who look typically otokorashii and/or like themselves: Tani, Yuu, Yumiko, Kiriyan, Shii, Tomochin, Kimu, Mattsu (although she might have gotten into the next category if it weren't for the long beaded necklace)
My personal favorite: Tomochin <3
Otokoyaku who look particularly otokomae and/or like hosts: Touko (like a host; something about the all-black suit / vest / tie combination), Asako (kimono with a moon on the breast, plus that hair = HOT), Yuuhi (SERIOUSLY EXACTLY LIKE A HOST PULLING A CHAIR OUT FOR YOU *DEAD*), Chie (purple silk shirt, slightly open, black kimono draped over one shoulder, violet Japanese parasol in the background and a COME HITHER STARE OF DOOM), Mitsuru (black velvet suit, black tie -- yep, a host X3)
My personal favorite: YUUHI OF COURSE <333333 but Chie would win if I put her in a separate "kimono" category ^^;;
Otokoyaku wearing funny things: Mizu (I... I cannot even describe the bizarrely-cut faux-fur "coat" she's wearing), Tom (purple fur... *stifles giggles*), Miwacchi (leopard print shirt and belt, huge red corsage on her white suit jacket; I mean HUGE)
My personal favorite: Mizu -- she almost makes it look hot? XDD;;
Otokoyaku who are wearing kimono but look at least kind of manly: Tomu (actually she's toeing the line to "girly"), Sou, Ahi, Toyoko (kimono = v. manly but hair = GIRLY)

Otokoyaku who are wearing kimono and look exceptionally girly: Micchan (pink and purple SAKURA on the sleeves!?), Sonoka (touching a tree branch with tiny white flowers!), Morie (she just can't help it X3), Eriko (also can't help it <333), Hiromi (such a SWEET SMILE!!!), Kaname (mm-mm-MMMM I like her girly ;D), Kazu (actually her hair and face are a little scary XDD;;;)
My personal favorite: Kaname, which is a first @___@ It's something about her eyes / smile... Eriko looks much more pose-y by comparison
Otokoyaku who surprised me with her presence in this lineup: ASAKA MANATO GAH. I was all "Kaname, yes, okay... *flip* Kazu, yes, okay... *glance* MAKKUN WHAT?! Please don't do this, Hankyuu ;____; I like Makkun, but I like her because of her big eyes and her big silly face and her dorkiness and not because she's all that, you know, talented. T____T;; If you push her like this, it'll be Mirio Redux... >.>;;;
(Makkun wore a kimono, btw, and looks dorky as ever)
All of the top musumeyaku are beautiful and effeminate in their gorgeous kimono, of course. ^_______^ I probably like Asuka's the best, but Ume has the cutest hair <33333

Continuing on, color pictures of all the current top stars COMPARED TO THEIR FIRST NEW YEAR'S PORTRAITS IN KAGEKI OMG.
Tom's = I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO WORDS FOR THE HILARITY. BUT IT INVOLVES CHINESE ROBES AND ANKLES.
Yuu's = Brown velvet coat. Amusingly baby-cheeked and looking like Bun-chan.
Asako's = White ruffled shirt and pleather pants; black kimono draped over the shoulders. Looking surprisingly hot at whatever age she was.
Mizu's = plain kimono top and green hakama, and not my favorite shade of lipstick.
Touko's = White turtleneck, black coat, BAD TEETH OF DOOM and love <3333 Plus the background looks so... childish X3
Tani's = YOUNG, GIRLY AND DIMPLY <33333 Yellow kimono, green hakama, bamboo <33333

Tsukigumi = Masakiiiiiii with the most boring title ever ("Ryuu Masaki no E to Bun"... >.>;;;;) Very cute photo of Masaki with a fan. Drawings of a rhino, sheep... and Masaki's Yume character riding a cow?! Will read this later.
Yukigumi = Izuru. Boring title ("Eh!? Ehh... eehhh to... bun desu.") No drawings. :(

Aww. It's about the size and thickness of a train pass, with rounded edges. On one side it has all six tops in their New Years attire, and on the other side is an Asako that's probably a portrait from the last year or so.
...Can I trade for another one? *pouts*
For as long as this post has gotten, when I look back I think it was a pretty stupid idea as a whole. >.>;;;;
OH BUT OH. Club mailed us about it a while ago but now Kageki's mentioned it so now I feel right in reporting that
ALICE-CHAN GOT THE 2008 NEWCOMER AWARD along with Yuzurun and Shizuku but who cares about them!!! ALICE-CHAN!!!!!!!!!! <33333333333333333
And in scouring Kageki to find the announcement, I also came upon a bit about Soragumi's upcoming "Bara ni furu ame" in which Ume-chan's name is mentioned. Take THAT, people wishing to steal my top musumeyaku! :P
