figaro!

So I just finished Figaro!. Man, what a ride. My eyes may still be spinning. And by that I mean it was a dizzyingly confusing mesh of The Barber of Seville and The Marriage of Figaro (set in Bolivia, of all places) - but it was also insanely funny with a dizzying amount of humor. In fact it was probably the least angsty show I've ever watched. Even when Mizu had that little angst-number and dance with Mihoko, it wasn't really very angsty. ^^;;;

To start: Mizu doing the welcome announcement in an extremely happy voice. I've never heard such a cheery opening. ^^;;

Ebira Kaoru and two other girls having a sack race. Hahahahahahaha.

Manaka Hikaru being... well I'll just say it, she was the craziest person in this show. ^^;;; She was positively spastic, and talked so fast, and her wig was kind of silly to me. ^^;; But I love her and wish she hadn't retired. :-(

And then there was Mizu, in her puffy-sleeved shirt, being... dare I say it, rather gay? In a good way, of course. <3

Then the jokes started rolling, and I felt my first bout of dizziness coming on. This show is just so energetic, I almost couldn't handle it. ^^;;; Such a change from the 'Zuka I'm used to seeing.

I liked how the introduction of characters amounted to every two minutes a new person showing up, and everyone else pointing and going "AAHH! I KNOW YOU!" - it was just funny. :-D

Then on the ship, the Count teaching Figaro all these charming hand motions and ways to flirt. Hahaha.

And Taki looked quite lovely in her dress. And Mihoko was, of course, adorable.

I loved Mizu's "awkward moment" face when she came off the ship and everyone was like "EEHH!!" because she looked like Antonio. So cute.

Ryou Akino and Mebae Haruka, as nuns... um, well, rather corrupt nuns, apparently, who take their clothes off and dance for money. o_O;; Which was weird, but my love for Mebae Haruka increased, as well as my disappointment that she retired.

The little song-and-dance number where Joanna and Enrico get Figaro's money, and then Figaro gets more money from Marcellina, was really catchy and entertaining. :-D

Mizu in a priest outfit and bushy white beard = SO funny.

Mikaze Maira had a very nice solo, confirming that she is awesome.

Then Taki got a solo, also proving her awesomeness. :3

And later... Ebira Kaoru in underclothes. XDD Hahahaha.

Sometime after the act break, Izumo Aya and Manaka Hikaru sang "Anything Goes"... with completely different lyrics. ^^;;; I must say Taki looked quite nice in her dress, dancing around and all, but that tune was eating at my brain until I figured out what it was. ^^;;;

There were many jokes flying by at an absolutely dizzying pace, making me a bit sad I couldn't catch them all, but I finally got a good laugh at Mihoko's "Figaro, Figaro, wherefore art thou Figaro?" Hehehe.

The trial scene, for me, was all about the babies in the background. (Since I could hardly understand Manaka Hikaru's rapid-fire speech.) Sararan was particularly adorable making faces behind Ebira Kaoru, but I also identified: Toki Irisu, Suzu Haruki, Nanaho Hikaru and Kazu Ryouka! So cute!! I might have seen Takahane Ukyou too, but I wasn't 100% sure. Also, in the foreground as the judge was my beloved Hatsune Mayo, and Kazari Jin as the note-taker. Whee!!

All the birthmark stuff was just hilarious. What were they? "A frog going 'banzai'!", "a duck's bill", and something about a gecko I think? So funny. XDD

Then to add to the Famous Songs with Completely Different Lyrics department, Antonio!Mizu sang "Luck Be a Lady". With different lyrics. Actually there may have been more re-worded songs, but only recognized two.

Mihoko slapped Mizu three times. That was awesome. XDDD

And then... and then... and then there was... MIZU IN DRAG. But it was funny and not scary, because it was supposed to be a man in drag looking ridiculous. :-D And the Count was like "Why Susanna, you seemed to have grown a little taller" and Mizu made some silly comment involving what I assume is an idiom about "stretching your neck" when someone is making you wait for something, and her neck stretched so much that the rest of her body followed. XDD And a little after that Mizu slapped Ebira Kaoru, and it was all great fun.

I loved the BeruBara jokes. Loved them. Mostly because I could understand them. Hahaha. :-P But try as I might, I couldn't catch what it was that Mizu was saying after Taki entered. It sounded like "kasei fusan da!" But I don't really think 仮性不参 actually makes any sense. >.>;; It was still funny though. :3

Taki's confession about Figaro's parentage:
Marcellina: "I'm your mother."
Everyone Else: "Mother???"
Marcellina: "Mother. Do I look like a father?" Hehehe.

And then Chiga-san showed up again, and I realized I'd entirely forgotten she was in this show. ^^;;;

Since Mizu played both Figaro and Antonio, there was a joke toward the end involving Antonio spontaneously deciding to go off on a journey, and Figaro being relieved, since there would be a problem if they were both expected to appear onstage together. ^^;;

At the curtain call, Mizu waving with both hands was extremely cute. <3 I mean most everyone was waving with both hands, but Mizu was especially adorable. :-D

Wah, writing that all down has quite worn me out. And look at how late it is! Where does the time go, I wonder? Oh, I know. Into making this page so you all could see the cast list. (Someone else will have to make links from the year and troupe pages, since I can't do that... but tomorrow I'll go through people's profiles and do the cross-referencing.)

Bah, look at all those broken links... Kuon Maya totally needs a page... and Manaka Hikaru... and Ryou Akino... and...
