The Scarlet Pimpernel Antics (not a review >.>)

Wow, f-list, you are SO boring today.

Let me liven you up with TALES OF PIMPERNEL ON MAE-RAKU (the second-to-last day of the Takarazuka run).

If you have been living under a rock haven't been reading other people's TSP reports (aka those of jenebi and arlecchinic), you may not know of the adlib spots in this show. Basically they're all done by Touko. :D

1) Marie has been been working on a sketch of Percy. Percy can't remember how he was posing for it. "Was it like... this?" And then Touko does some silly pose. X3

Today: a sort of "speed" pose with one leg up and arms held as if running. When Nene said it wasn't right, Touko said, "oh, was my leg higher?" and hopped on one foot trying to lift her other leg higher. XDDD

2) Chauvelin's all-black wardrobe does not impress Percy. He suggests something ridiculous for Chauvelin to wear to the masque.

Today...

Touko: "A red suit, and a brown cape..."
(Me thinking: ...?)
Touko: "...AND A GIANT AMPAN ON YOUR HEAD."
(Me: SHE WANTS CHIE TO BE AMPANMAN. *BUSTS UP LAUGHING*)
Touko: "...Then if the other guests get hungry, THEY CAN EAT THE AMPAN FROM YOUR HEAD. EVERYONE WILL LOVE IT."
(*AUDIENCE IN STITCHES*)
Chie: "No thanks."
Touko: "But I want to eat some too. Please?"
(LONG pause while Touko gives Chie a pleading face. I was giggling too hard to properly focus on Chie's expression, but it looked like she was sucking in her cheeks trying not to break character and laugh too. XD)
Chie (after a seriously long moment): "...NO THANKS, REALLY."

Disappointed, Touko gives up and turns to leave, but right before she was offstage...

Touko: "Ampan PUNCH!"

Ampanman references popped up a few more times afterward. When Chauvelin arrives at the corridor thinking he'll catch the Pimpernel and finds only Percy, Percy teases him and says "Maybe YOU'RE the Pimpernel!" This always ends in Touko sneakily undoing Chie's tricolored sash and Chie wrestling it back tug-of-war style. Today when Chie finally got the sash back, Touko ran her off the stage with a "scary" pose and a call of "BAIKINMAN!"

There was also a mention of heads popping off (as Ampanman's does) when Touko!Grapin gave that line to Chie about "If they take Robespierre to the guillotine, your head will be next!" And either Touko!Grapin or Touko!Percy got in another "Ampan punch!", but for some reason I can't remember where...

3) The other adlib is when Marguerite tries to kick Grapin (before she knows it's Percy), but I guess it's usually some Kansai-ben thing that I can't understand. Today was no different; all I caught was the hand gesture Touko gave to Potto-san showing her how to hold Asuka tighter.

ANYWAY. Other than that the show was love as usual. <3 I amused myself by letting my eyes wander in crowd scenes and watching Rima-kun or peering at fluffy-haired babies (CATE! Shiotsuki Shuu! Fluffy hair, yes?! And you never told me who was the cutie manning the guillotine!) instead of paying attention to, like, Chie or some person with an actual character name. ^^;;;

After the show, Manda and I...
-Resisted buying things at QR
-Instead bought things at Taka-an (at least I did >.>)
-Ran into Kikuko-san <3 (she was going to the late show)
-Wandered around showing each other our iride spots and swapping stories
-Failed to verify if chirashi exist for Isolabella salon concerts, as Isolabella was closed
-Had dinner at the cafeteria and shared a choco-banana parfait at Izumi's
-Watched demachi

DEMACHI. We were disappointed by the lack of antics, after MiiMai mae-raku three months ago had been so fun with all of the daihyou dressing up as characters from the show...

...But at least we got Morie, Ahi and Mika-chan de before Hoshigumisei started leaving. :D <3

As the Hoshi babies began trickling out (Yurikaaa <333), Touko Cult had some announcement from staff which produced cheers from the cultists.

Then THE WHOLE CLUB held a MASS JANKEN AGAINST THE STAFF for prizes.

FIVE TIMES.

THERE WERE LIKE TWO HUNDRED PEOPLE THERE. Seriously, it was the biggest crowd I have ever seen for one star.

(Except for Wao's club, that one time I went to NSG de -- before I understood it all properly and would have thought to tally the number of cultists.)

What made the club janken even more entertaining was that the losers would crouch down and the winners would keep standing... but any time 'siennes came out, everyone had to crouch again regardless. XDD;; Two musumeyaku saw what was going on and one of them couldn't stop giggling, kind of bobbing her head to the club apologetically for interrupting them. X3

The eventual winners then waited to get their prizes passed to them from Touko's hands. I think they were signed programs? Something approximately program-sized wrapped in plastic. And two of them won the opportunity to hand over the bags filled with Touko's letters.

Touko came out wearing a hat with black / gray plaid stripes, a red plaid button-up shirt, and dark brown(?) pants with the bottoms tucked into short brown boots. It was cute to see her pass by the first row of cultists who were showing her their empty hands, since all of their letters had been collected in bags beforehand.

WHAT FOLLOWED WAS EVEN CUTER.

Earlier Manda and I had noticed two girls in pink dresses, blonde curly wigs and tiaras hanging around near some Chie club people and wondered what was up. It turned out that they, along with a "Robespierre" and a "Grapin", had prepared a short performance for Touko (or maybe it was for Chie, but since Touko came out first...?).

The two "ladies" sang a snippet from the "who is the Scarlet Pimpernel" song (I couldn't hear well enough to catch if the lyrics had been changed at all), then turned and gestured to "Grapin" behind them. "Grapin", in turn, spun away and shucked off her coat and wig to reveal ADORABLE ZEBRA PAJAMAS underneath. She even had zebra slippers. XDD

Suffice it to say Touko was amused, and in addition to the clubs many people across the street clapped for them (myself included :3).

Chie came out almost immediately after Touko's car had left. She got "oohs" for her bizarre shoes that looked like sneakers with high heels stylish short-sleeved white coat and fedora. The performance was repeated for her, but "Grapin" hadn't been ready and was having difficulty keeping her coat closed before the big reveal. We still laughed and clapped again anyway -- even moreso when the four of them (plus one regularly-dressed staff lady) scuttled off following Chie afterward. (Robespierre was holding hands with Grapin. I think she had dressed up just for emotional support. X3)

The only sad part was that in all the commotion we totally missed seeing Haya-chan de. ;______; But at least it was sweet to watch Koto Marie's one lone cultist keep waiting for ten more minutes after the other clubs had dispersed. <3

AND THAT, my friends, was Pimpernel mae-raku, brought to you all by Julie's Pen-Typing(TM).
