THE TOMY-SHO [1]
Takarazuka 88th Class

3rd Award-Winner
Cosmos Troupe, Hasumi Yuuya
Writer: Ougi Megumu

Everyone, beloved readers of GRAPH ♥ The time has come for the third "Tomy-sho" ◊◊ The award-winner this time is... A Cosmos Troupe otokoyaku who is refreshing and full of ◯◯ (?) =3 [2] Chii-chan―Hasumi Yuuya-chan ^__^

As our dress-up for the photo shoot this time, why would you say we're in jerseys [3]... We have gone back in time to our days as Music School students. Chii-chan has been told that it suits her very well; that je ne sais quois style of the Music School's white jerseys with the tapered pants. Certainly even now, I am able to vividly recall the sight of Chii-chan wearing that jersey (laughs). And not just in her Music School years; Chii-chan ordinarily loves jerseys :D and it seems wearing them makes her relax ◊◊ Thus, our photo shoot became the two of us wearing jerseys!! Unfortunately the photos are black and white, but actually the jerseys we're wearing are a very pretty blue ^__^

Now then, let's go straight away to see Chii-chan's history =3

First, I asked what kind of child she was.

C: "I was a child who loved to play outside. Still, I was basically quiet and didn't pester people or cry."

That quiet child Chii-chan also had this side...

C: "I really loved games. Whenever I put effort into study or games at the kindergarten I went to, it was really fun. ^__^ In my upper years [at elementary school], I also started learning classical ballet!!"

Ever since that time you've loved dancing and singing, haven't you? [flower emoticon]

And so, the impetus that made Chii-chan think of entering Takarazuka... It was in her high school years, just when she was very worried about her path. Her mother invited her, saying "BS is relaying a broadcast of a Takarazuka play―why don't you watch for a bit?" It seems that as she watched the broadcast, Chii-chan thought to herself "I love ballet, but I'm not especially interested in it outside of the ballet. :D" And then somehow!! It seems she was hooked ^__^ (laughs) Thus Chii-chan thought, "To think that such a fun world exists..." and decided to enter Takarazuka.

After that, Chii-chan entered and completed the Music School without incident. Speaking of Chii-chan's time as a yokasei... I have the image of her silently trying with all her might =3 For cleaning, she shouldered the serious responsibility of being in charge of the machines, but she made no especially big mistakes and I thought she was amazing ◊◊

C: "That's not true ^^;; I made plenty of mistakes ^_^;; But I became really good with the machines (laugh)"

As you would expect, not one experience from our Music School years was in vain ^__^

Chii-chan's hatsubutai memories are of the rehearsals, all the batchmates assembling and checking the choreography together, it seems. =3

C: "Fellow batchmates can understand each other, and the severity is not incomplete ^^;; [4] It was hard training (laughs)"

It certainly was =3 I also remember it very well. But because we had that rehearsal, our bonds with our fellow batchmates deepened, and I believe we showed that we could do our line dance with all our might, didn't we? ^__^

And then... troupe assignments =3 Chii-chan was assigned to Cosmos Troupe, but...

C: "For some reason everyone told me that I seemed like I would be placed in Cosmos Troupe, so I wasn't surprised ^__^ I felt it was the start of a new life =3"

Oohh =3 I see ^__^ After her assignment to Cosmos Troupe, the time when Chii-chan changed the most was...

C: "Although I had lived so seriously, for some reason I was very rapidly placed in a comedic direction... (laughs) Probably from Dai (Houshou)'s influence (laughs). If there was a dinner party, I generally got the feeling that it was like 'please allow our class to do the entertainment!!' (laughs)"

Please do show that to me sometime.

Now then, up to this point we have heard Chii-chan's history, but I have a feeling that this year she will do great things, so next I asked about her enthusiasm for the things to come =3

C: "This year, I feel that I have to work harder than ever!! It will definitely be over in an instant. I'd like to take what I've learned in the past six years and put forth as much as possible... ^__^"

Yep, yep. ^__^ That's right. =3

C: "But... I'm really tense... [5] ^^;; Even though I'm fine in the rehearsal room ^^;; I'm a little worried about that T__T"

Yeeaahhh, it's not that I don't know that feeling ^^;; But!! BUUTTT!!!! If you shrink away, Chii-chan, your goodness can't be shown on the stage, and I think that's a veeeery big waste =3 Chii-chan, you can certainly do it!! Absolutely, you can do it!!!! I'm rooting for you X3 I'll come to see you, okay~♪♪

And finally... I'll specially tell everyone something that I know just because we're batchmates!! Chii-chan secretly has another nickname. It is... what was it... "Cabbage"!!!! Our classmates gave it to her during our Music School years, and as to "why Cabbage", the truth is... Chii-chan, when she's just woken up in the morning, is truly amazing. As for what it is that's amazing... "Her hair" (laughs). It explodes, "boom", and no matter how you look at it, it's basically like cabbage... (laughs) I haven't seen it since I was a honkasei, but I hear that her cabbage-ness lives on even now X3

C: "It's normal to say 'your hair has grown', but in my case it's 'your hair has increased' (laughs). Even when I go to the beauty salon, it's not 'please cut it' but 'please mow it' (laughs) Although with a great quantity of hair, it's easy to arrange it in various ways... This greatness in hair quantity will be my companion for life ^__^"

That's Chii-chan's cabbage-ness ♥ Tommy loves it veeeeery much ♥

Well then, well then, did you enjoy the stories of Chii-chan? Next time will be yet another refreshing and rejuvenating character of an otokoyaku-san, from Moon Troupe ^__^ Please look forward to it~♥

The Third Award-Winner,
Hasumi Yuuya-chan, has been awarded

THE HAIRY AWARD

=3

Because jerseys suit her I also thought of making it "The Jersey Award", but at the end of my troubling over it, this time I went with "The Hairy Award" after all!! From here on, please make the most of that hairiness, arrange your hairstyles splendidly, and show off your cabbage-ness (laughs).

[1] The "sho" here, 賞, means "award / prize" in Japanese. I imagine the title is written Tomy (it is written in romaji at the top) because it looks like Tony, as in the Tony Award of theatre. But maybe I'm just grasping, and maybe I only think it sounds like "The Tommy Show" because I'm a native English speaker... I guess what I'm trying to say is, I'm not sure if one or two puns were intended here. ^^;; But I decided to write the title "Tomy-sho" as opposed to "Tomy Award" or something, just because I can. X3.

[2] Writing a circle, ◯, or a string of circles is a way of censoring something out in Japan. It can be used for humorous or explicit reasons, and I think in this case Tommy was just cheating out of finding another adjective for Chii-chan. ;P

[3] As a native speaker of English living in the Southwestern United States, I'd like to say that for me "jersey" does not describe what Chii-chan and Tommy are wearing. I would call it the top of a track suit. But I suppose to Japanese people, and maybe to other speakers of English, the usage of "jersey" here does match with the article of clothing.

[4] 「同期同士だと、分かり合えてる分、厳しさも半端じゃないんだよね」 I hope I got even a grain of sense out of that in my translation, because I keep staring and scowling at that sentence and I still don't understand exactly what Chii-chan was trying to say. >_____<

[5] I get the feeling that 緊張しい is one of those things where they take a simple word and give it different kanji just to mess me up. D:< But I don't know any しい adjectives that mean "nervous / tense", so I just went with the meaning of 緊張 and hope that's what she was going for.

~

...So apparently we can't escape from the Sora babies with vegetable nicknames. XD First Carrot-chan, and now "Cabbage"... Oh, god. That is just too adorable. And it's true, Chii-chan really does have a lot of hair... X3

kirakira_sora has now exploded with love and wants to have Chii-chan all to herself. ;) But the rest of you should at least enjoy the translation! XD
