uninteresting ramblings, and some boring photos

Jan 02, 2009 11:44

And now that New Years' is out of the way, here's some old'd pictures.

But first, apologies for not being able to comment much on you guys' posts, I've been alternating between awfully busy, dead tired, and hopelessly braindead to go onto LJ (enough to talk crap on skype though, thanks for the the company outofbrown: ever considered becoming a shrink?). I thought of posting before/after pictures but what the hell. I made it a point to clean up everything (except my brother's bedroom - that's his own problem) before New Years' so we can start on a clean slate... therefore I'll spare the before-after photographs.
Anyway, that is largely what I have been doing on this holiday. Cleaning. And sleeping very erratically. Silly sky going dark at 5pm.

Aside from that I also enjoyed the momentary bout of heavy snowfall in Washington last week.

The week I arrived.

After it got really thick and started melting away. It is snoraining.

No pics of it at its thickest unfortunately it's nice trudging around in the snow, crunching in dead muffled silence, receiving snowflakes and even falling on your butt. What's not so nice is having the car stuck. It's pretty much all melted away now, but there's still weeks of winter to go. I'd be lucky if the rain turns to snow again some day, it's incredibly calming watching it fall silently.

I've also been LOVING the company of Lillian, a beautiful, elegant and friendly little tuxedo cat. I could go on and on about her, but for now a grainy photo should suffice. (P.S. This is pre-cleanup.)

We really get along so well it's crazy. I can't have enough of her, I wish I could steal her back :( Then she can go outside whenever she wants! It's a real pity she doesn't get along with the other cat and I can see why; that one's got some social problems aside from being rather obese...

What else. I haven't gone around to see much, but it's just such a huge relief seeing wide open spaces and forests of trees and the sky unobscured by endless buildings. Traveling on the freeways is kinda exhilarating (partially because of my brother's hair-raising driving). I've only been to a little bit of downtown Bellevue and just been driven around a bit of downtown Seattle, but I love how it's so hilly and there's narrow roads with wide pavements and everyone looks neat all togged up for the winter. It's really very different from Asian countries in terms of eye impact. Day before yesterday I also had sushi in an actual sushi place (this one had a conveyor belt) for the first time in my life! I've also eaten at two Korean places now, another novelty. And I hope to eat some Vietnamese food before I leave. Maybe some Mexican food too, after all this is America...

Still haven't visited the Space Needle and all those other places, but there's time. I'm looking forward a bit to visiting California, though. It's January now, so can I just fix it this way? pacificpikachu (hope you're enjoying Anime LA) where in Japantown should I meet you on the 9th? And shimizu_hitomi where/when should I meet you? @_@ (I know this is the 50593049204th time I'm asking, I suck at organizing...) If you're still free that is. The place I'm staying at is in Fremont.

For those who are hopefully bumping into me, here's some... *sigh* camwhoring photos of my silly mug so you can get acquainted with it before we meet. Please take a few glasses of water and a deep breath before visiting this gallery (restricted to some friends). *hides*

I would continue wasting time but I spent so long on this, as well as listening to Camel and Brand X on imeem, that it is almost time for lunch. But first let me present to you Exhibit A: my brother's humongous animu collection

The shelf goes all the way to the floor, all those amazon boxes have animu dvds in them, and the left set of white drawers is stocked with manga.

For various reasons I haven't touched any of these, or any anime or manga at all for that matter, with two exceptions: Berserk, which I reread all over again and Miura is officially slower than HALF a snail; and Vinland Saga. Berserk-lite I guess? I'm not as impressed with it, especially since I can't stop noticing how Hachimaki's dad's face is EVERYWHERE and well, everyone looks so un-Nordic, but it's really quite a decent manga nevertheless. Of course, I'm so lucky that when I did decide to read it the latest chapter ends on a sort of cliffhanger.

However, I think soon I shall partake of a particular anime that should make someone a little happy:

Exhibit B. Notice it is entirely untouched. It is not an exception. Somebody simply has too much money and likes RightStuf sales.

Well, let's hope I watch it without going off the cynical scale, it's been a while since I've watched an anime proper and I am still not in the most fantastic of moods, I s'pose. Maybe I'll do it after lunch... or when I come back from dinner with my brother and his friend.

Also as per last time all entries prior to today have been wiped (made private anyway). Onward 2009. (苦笑)
