IMPORTANT ARCHAEOLOGICAL FIND. Whilst getting rid of some of the junk from under my bed, I discovered the holy grail of nerdy nostalgia: the honest to god Harry Potter scrapbook I maintained from the ages of 10-11 like the crazy dedicated childnerd I was.

Covered in glitter glue, and ransom-note-esque collages, and my nerdy annotated corrections of the local newspaper's film review. (No, reviewer, they didn't learn dark arts, they learnt DEFENCE AGAINST the dark arts, god!!!)

I posted some pictures of it on tumblr here though it is a million times more glorious (and glittery) in person.

Also here's the review I wrote of the first film ON A TYPEWRITER like a weird little 11 YEAR OLD TYPEWRITING BADASS.

THE HARRY POTTER MOVIE
A review by [real name]

When I discovered that there was going to be a Harry Potter movie, I was doubtful. Would any director be good enough to be able to bring Harry Potter to life without making diabolical mistakes?

One week ago, when I actually went to see the movie, my question was answered.

The movie was perfect. It was far better than I had ever imagined. The quidditch, inparticular, was amazing. Just watching the players swooping through the air was enough to make you feel sick (my dad did!), a masterpiece, for sure.

It was like having a Christmas present early, the one you had especially wanted, but hadn’t really believed you were going to get. All the other presents lie forgotten, as you don’t want to finish playing with this one for a long time yet.

From the very moment the tall cloaked figure appears in the shadows, whom is called Albus Dumbledore, you know this is not one of those typical wizard films, THIS is better.

You cannot move from the seat in which you are sitting. You are just staring at the screen, eyes fixed, unaware of the world around you, and with a sweet halfway to your mouth. And well you should do, for this is something you don’t want to miss.

The accuracy to the book is amazing. The Great Hall isn’t just a set, it IS the Great Hall, just like Daniel Radcliffe IS Harry Potter, and Robbie Coltrane IS Hagrid.

I myself, particularly enjoyed the bit, right towards the end, when Harry, Ron and Hermione go down the Trapdoor. Even though one of the obstacles is missed out (the potions). The giant chess is especially spectacular. Although I didn’t like the way the chess pieces move. But, undoubtedly, the most spectacular bit has to be the mirror.

Voldemort’s voice is just SO creepy, though not very high and cold. I’m sure, had I been around 6, I would’ve been petrified by that voice, and the actual sight of Voldemort would probably have made me scream. Voldemort’s face is perfect. So hideously grusome, and evil. Just perfect.

All in all, seeing that movie was one of the most enjoyable experiences in my life. I will definetly buy it when it comes out on DVD, or video. A must to watch, and I’d say 10-out-of-10, definetley.

i was a nineties child, oh how i laughed, fan: harry potter, idek
