Sigh, fandom. Sigh. I went to bed really pissed off at the internet and fandom (all fandom, not just SPN) for breeding so much hate - and the illusion that it is totally acceptable and normal to have that level of hate, be it for a fangirl or celebrity or anyone who didn’t deliberately run over your dog. (And even then, wouldn’t you be more

I STRONGLY REFUTE THIS CLAIM.
I totally get where you're coming from, with this. I am really shocked and appalled at the shenanigans going on in Torchwood fandom, but it's like... I get annoyed by people going "FUCK YOU RTD, YOU SADIST PRICK", but if a character I really liked got shafted, would I really be any more sane or rational? Probably not. I feel like a hypocrite, telling fandom to calm down and play nice, when outside of my journal I'm incredibly bitchy and negative and misanthropic as of late. I keep telling people to grow up and gain some perspective, but arguments on the internet ensure I spend the rest of my night feeling angry and restless.
Cruelty on the internet upsets me too. It's like... there's no reason for it. Would you act that way in real life? No? Have you never considered why that is? Because it's NOT A GREAT WAY TO LIVE.
Perhaps I am also a delicate flower.

And just... eurgh. Yes. The sheer level of maliciousness on the internet is ridiculous. I've always argued, when people come down on fandom behaviour, that people are just as bitchy and prone to drama offline, too. But in real life, it isn't celebrated. Online, it seems like whenever someone, or a group of people, take their cruelty up a notch, people just accept that as the NEW STANDARD. Myself included, tbh! It's ridiculous.
