Tony needed to talk to Ryne Cyratane and the only way to do that was, well, post-coital. With Leah. Since he and Leah were a not-happening thing, they needed a third. Leah had suggested Lee and while the idea was tempting ("Hi, Lee? It's Tony. I need to do this thing to save the world...") it was also terrifying. Besides, he had an alternative option. Tony went looking for Jack.
Jack
He found him, scarfing down a roast beef sandwich at the crafts table. "Tony," Jack said, looking happy to see him. "How are things going?"
Tony
"Good," Tony said. He sat down next to Jack. "Would you be willing to help me with something? It's, uh, wizard stuff." He could be cool about this, sure.
Jack
"Wizard stuff," Jack echoed. "Beyond not getting killed, you mean? I'm all ears."
Tony
Tony nodded. He picked up a piece of bread, but instead of eating it, he tore tiny bits off and dropped them on the table, not meeting Jack's eyes. "Uh, so, I need to talk to Ryne Cyratane. Leah's Demonlord. Which I think I can do, but it has to be, uh, post-coital and I have to be there and Leah has to be there, but me and Leah together doesn't really work without, uh, someone else." Crap, he was rambling, wasn't he? And also blushing. Dammit.
Jack
"... you need me to have relations with Leah?"
Give Jack a second. He would just be staring, and forgetting all about his poor sandwich while he did. The "threesome" detail was getting overlooked for the moment.
Tony
"With Leah and, uh, me. At the same time." Tony finally managed to look Jack in the eyes. Oh, man, Jack was going to think he was a total freak now, huh?
Jack
Jack was not stopping the staring. He didn't think Tony was a freak, so much as he never, ever, ever thought that this would come up, oh, ever.
"And she's willing?" he asked. "I have nothing against her, she's lovely" -- more than that, really -- "but that's a bit beyond our relationship thus far."
He flirted with Leah, of course, but not in a way that expected anything to come of it.
Tony
Tony held back a bitchy - if truthful - remark about Leah always being willing. She'd once slept with a tabloid reporter after all; Jack was several major steps above that. "I already checked with her," he said instead. "She's up for it if you are."
Jack
"So it's down to me," Jack said slowly. "Well. And you're all right with it?"
He was liking the idea more as he let himself think about it (or, okay, think about Leah) but it was still one of the stranger things he'd been asked to do, especially since he and Tony both could be possessive.
Tony
"I wouldn't have asked you if I wasn't," Tony pointed out. Okay, maybe watching Leah go at it with Jack would be a little weird, but his life was all about the weird these days. Plus it could be pretty hot and he'd be participating, so was there really any bad here?
Jack
"True."
It was really fucking weird. But no, no bad there. Jack was just taking some time to catch up to the concept.
"If it's to save the world, you have your third."
It was possible Jack could try to seem a little more enthused.
Tony
"Thanks," Tony said. "I'll owe you one for this."
Jack
Jack laughed. "And if we were any two other people, it wouldn't seem entirely likely I would need you to sleep with someone to save the world."
He leaned in to kiss Tony. "Don't worry about it."
Tony
Tony leaned into Jack's kiss. "Still. I'll have to do something for you. Maybe when I'm back in Fandom."
Jack
"That better be soon," Jack agreed against Tony's mouth.
Leah's Apartment
Leah
“Because your place is a dump and I have a king-size bed.”
Leah rolled her eyes as she opened the door to her apartment to let in Tony and Jack. "You can't honestly tell me you expect us to do this on your sofa-bed?"
Tony
"It's not mine. I'm subletting," Tony muttered. He stepped into the living room and wandered over to look a painting on the wall. The swirls of red and brown looked like a safe subject to focus on while waiting for Leah to lead them to the bedroom. Until he started seeing patterns in the swirls and realized what the artist had been drawing. Blushing, he turned away from the painting to look at Jack.
Jack
Jack's eyes were on the painting too, and he seemed mesmerized by it -- though he kept sneaking glances at Leah as well, finding her equally mesmerizing. Whatever his hesitations at the outset had been, he was still a teenage boy.
"Should we shower first?" he wondered. "It might help us ease into things."
Leah
"Bathroom's through there," Leah said, waving vaguely to indicate the hallway past the kitchen. "Bedroom's just past it." She smiled at both boys, a tight grin that let out just a touch of her seduction. "Can I offer you any... refreshments?"
Tony
Tony ran a hand through his hair. "Water?" he asked Leah. "You want to shower first or me?" he asked Jack.
Jack
Jack looked at Tony as if he was being rather slow. "Both of us, or all three," he said patiently, before turning to Leah. "And I'm fine. Brandy would be nice if you have it, but it's not important."
Leah
Leah nodded and grabbed a crystal bottle out of the cupboard. "Well, we could go all three," she said, pouring three glasses of brandy -- ignoring Tony's request for water -- "but I think it's probably best if we keep that for the bedroom, hm?"
Tony
Tony gave the brandy a wistful look, but given that he was trying out new magic and planning to go face-to-face with a Demonlord, he figured he'd better hold off on the alcohol. "Okay," he said to Jack. "Shall we?"
Jack
Jack took a sip -- never a gulp -- of brandy, savoring the warm burn in his throat. "I think we should," he said, and looked at Tony under his lashes before reaching to take the other young man by hand.
The shower would give them a chance to get undressed, and kiss, and be at least that degree of comfortable. Leah ... Leah would be a mystery for another few moments.
Leah
Leah preferred to be a mystery in her bedroom; she stepped past Tony and Jack and moved down the hallway.
As she stepped through the door to her bedroom, she slipped her shirt over her head and let it drop artfully to the floor.
Tony
Tony let Jack lead him to the bathroom. Not surprisingly, Leah had a shower big enough to accommodate several adults. Tony turned on the shower to get the warm water flowing and stripped down. "She's got a nice place," he said to Jack.
Jack
"She does," Jack agreed. He reached a hand out to feel the caress of the water before stepping out of his own shirt and pants. "This may be the best shower I've ever seen, for one."
If he was nervous, it wasn't showing anymore.
Tony
"Stunt work pays good money," Tony said. He slipped into the shower with Jack. "All right," he said softly, resting one hand on Jack's hip, "last chance to run for the hills."
Jack
"I would have said no if no was what I meant," Jack answered, but he leaned his head on Tony's chest for a moment. It was familiar, comforting.
"We can do this. It's to save the world, remember?"
And it would be pretty hot.
Tony
"Right. To save the world." Tony closed his eyes, then leaned in and kissed Jack. He wasn't thinking about the world at that moment.
Jack
Jack let himself get lost in the kiss and the feel of the water against his skin.
A few minutes later, they came into the bedroom wrapped only in towels. Jack looked expectantly at Leah, eyes going soft at her bare chest. "How should I begin?" he asked, wishing he knew a less formal way to ask.
Leah
Leah gave a slow-burning half-smile and beckoned. "It usually helps," she said, "if you get a bit closer."
Tony
Right. Tony dropped his towel and joined Leah in the bed, leaving space between them for Jack.
Jack
"That would be a start," Jack observed. He crawled nude into his space on the bed, kissed Tony to let him know he was not being forgotten, and then turned to Leah, pressing forward for a first kiss.
Leah
Leah didn't push this first kiss too far, too fast; normally she wasn't much one for foreplay, but this was going to be an... interesting encounter for her.
Already, somewhere in the back of herself, she could feel Ryne Cyratine perking up. So to speak.
Tony
Tony ran a hand down Jack's back and didn't stop at the waist. He wasn't trying to pull Jack away from Leah, just to stay in the game.
Jack
Oh, that was nice. Jack returned the compliment by teasing his trailing hand down over Tony's chest, even as he pressed forward into Leah. She was holding back, but something about her made him cry out for more, lots more, and right away.
Leah
Now that was more like it, Leah couldn't help thinking, as she let one hand stray down Jack's torso.
Ryne Cyratane was definitely a growing presence at this point, as he usually was for her... coital experiences.
Her lips pulled away from the kiss, but only so Leah could bite lightly at Jack's ear.
Jack
He gasped and reached his other hand up to brush over Leah's nipple.
Jack might have had a ... fondness ... for being bitten.
Tony
Tony (who had a similar fondness, funnily enough) slid his hand around to Jack's front and began stroking him gently.
Leah
Leah's hand met Tony's, her fingers dancing across it as she reached below to cup and fondle Jack's sack.
Jack
Oh, god. That was ... was ...
Jack groaned and tried to twist to the side to lift Leah on top of him. He wasn't trying to shut Tony out, but he wanted her right then, and more than just her hand.
Leah
Leah, shifting her weight and straddling Jack, was happy to oblige.
Tony
Tony didn't intend to be left on the sidelines and he moved in closer to take his part. Familiar skin, familiar hands, familiar need got him over the small hurdle of girly bits doing their thing off to one side and in a very short time, he was fighting to remember that he couldn’t be drawn into the maelstrom-it had to be drawn into him.
Then Leah cried out.
Jack’s teeth closed over a fold of his skin.
(
As he arced up off the bed, he could feel a fourth presence and opening himself up to the surging currents of power, he raced to meet it.)
Tony
Tony bounced a little as he hit the ground. Bounced a little higher. The white began to darken. Higher still. Fighting a rush of nausea, he closed his eyes. “Bucket,” he gasped, rolling for the edge of the bed. It was a good thing the wicker garbage container had a plastic bag in it because there wasn’t time to forage any farther out. Purple-and-green handprints covered most of both biceps, the soft inner skin of his arms scored by Ryne Cyratane’s claws.
Jack
Jack was still gasping and coming down from his own cloud when he heard the rude noise of Tony retching.
Well. That assassinated any lingering urge he felt to stay in Leah's arms.
"Are you -?" His voice was almost sharp as he rolled to a seated position. "Tony, what happened?"
Tony
"Not... now!" He started shaking just before he finished vomiting and barely made it to the bathroom in time to empty the rest of his digestive tract.
Leah
"He used too much power," Leah said, sliding effortlessly from her bed and grabbing the green robe that hung beside the door. "That's all. He'll be fine -- but he's going to be hungry. Care to join me in the kitchen?"
Without waiting for an answer, she left the bedroom.
Jack
It didn't seem like no was an answer, so Jack pulled on his shirt and shorts and padded after her.
"Did he know this would happen?"
Leah
"Probably not," Leah said, "but then, his training is woefully inadequate. I'm surprised he hasn't blown us all up yet himself."
So ask her why she's moving to the fridge and pulling out things for a giant mushroom-and-cheese-filled omelet.
Jack
"And that" -- Jack, without waiting to be asked, found a knife and an onion and started chopping -- "is why in my world he'd be at a university learning this, not off making it up as he went along."
He raised his head to look at her. "You don't sound nervous about it."
Leah
One hand fell to the Demongate at her stomach, brushing against it through the robe. "It wouldn't kill me," she said simply. "Very little can. Until recently, I'd have said that nothing could.
Jack
The knife froze in midair above the onion. "Well. Not all of us have that luxury."
If Tony got either Jack or himself killed, Jack would be several degrees beyond cross.
Tony
Tony closed the door on the scrubbing bubbles bleaching the color out of Leah’s towels. He pulled on his jeans and, carrying his t-shirt, he stumbled out into the condo, following his nose.
He found the kitchen and dropped down on a stool by the breakfast counter. "Sorry for the mood killer," he said to Jack.
Jack
"I'm just glad you're all right," Jack said, sounding a bit like someone's mother. "... you are, aren't you?"
Tony
"Yeah, fine," Tony said. He ran a hand through his hair, winced at the bruises on his arms and hastily pulled on his t-shirt. "I contacted Ryne Cyratane. He's going to mark one of the demons so it'll fight to protect Leah."
Leah
"'One of the demons'?" Leah asked. "Who's sending them, then?"
Tony
"His ex-girlfriend. Sye Mckaseeh," Tony said.
Jack
"A woman scorned," Jack half-quoted, lightly, and ran a hand down Leah's back. "Is there anything more we should do?"
Leah
"Scottish?" Leah had to ask. She smiled softly at Jack's touch as she finished the six-egg omelet and flipped it deftly out onto a plate.
"Eat," she added, setting it down in front of Tony. "You need the fat and the protein."
Tony
"I didn't ask," he said to Leah. "We just need to get the weak spots closed. That's our best shot." He poked at the food with a fork, then shook his head and set the fork down. "I'm not hungry."
Jack
"Eat," Jack said, and prodded the omelet with a fork of his own. "We all should. We can finish saving the world without any of us making ourselves ill."
He definitely should have been somebody's mother.
"You can tell us what happened while you're rebuilding your strength."
Leah
"And after," Leah added, already working on a second omelet, "we all eat."
Tony
Tony reluctantly took a bite, then two, and discovered he was starving. While he inhaled his first omelet, he filled them all in on the details.
