Valentine was in the need for a little manger herself, still in her PJs in the living room looking for breakfast. Claire with the kid tagging along behind her definitely earned a questioning lift of her eyebrow.

Claire had fixed peanut butter and jelly for breakfast for herself and her human-shaped teddy bear.

She gave Valentine a shrug. "Apparently my teddy bear is a little girl this weekend."

"Bonjour!" the girl said, waving a sticky hand.

"Bonjour," Valentine responded with a little wave back to the girl and then her attention shifted back to Claire. "She's cute?"

"Sure," Claire agreed. "It's just... weird."

She glanced behind Valentine. "I guess you didn't wake up to any surprises?"

"Well," Valentine thought back a moment to getting up, when she certainly hadn't noticed nothing amiss then, and she shook her head. "Nope. Not that I noticed. But I don't have a teddy bear, or any stuffed animals, actually."

Claire's eyes got very wide. "Oh man. I just realized that the rest of my collection is in my dorm room."

Images of a gaggle of multicultural children danced through her mind. "My dad travels a lot," she explained. "And he brings me back bears from all over the world."

"Let me guess," Valentine said, glancing at the little girl again, "France?"

"Yup. My tenth birthday," Claire said. That bear was a particular favorite which was why she had brought it to the cabin.

"Cute," Valentine said again, realizing that it was basically her assessment earlier, but she really couldn't think of much else to say. If she thought about it, this was really the first really bizarre Fandom thing that was effecting her and, really, it wasn't even associated with her beyond that there was a little girl there.

"So what do you think you guys'll do for the day?" she found herself wondering.

Claire... hadn't thought that far ahead. "I have no idea," she admitted. "I don't really know much about entertaining kids. Especially not ones that are usually teddy bears."

"Well," Valentine said, "if she's usually a teddy bear, maybe she'll just inherently be content to just sit on your bed all day."

"Mais non!" the girl called. "It is tres boring."

Claire sighed. "Guess not. Maybe we'll go to the park or something."

Valentine grinned a little, trying not to be amused. "Do you like ducks?" she asked the little teddy bear girl. "Or squirrels? There are lots of those down at the park. Are those a little less tres boring?"

The girl had no idea what those things were, but her eyes were shining. "Oui!"

Claire shook her head a little. "Have you been through anything like this yet?"

Valentine, too, shook her head. "Not even close. But now I know I'll have to keep an eye out for other stuffed animals turned children."

"Hmm, maybe she'll have other kids to play with," Claire realized. "That would be handy."
