So you would think that maybe the weird message about pizza would have tipped Claire off that there was something going on with the phones. But it didn't. After returning that call, she left a series of messages on Jon's voicemail.

Or so she thought.

Jon was in a bit of a good mood after visiting Jack, so he went to check in on his girlfriend.

"So, Jack has invited us to dinner so he can give us presents," he said as he walked into the room.

Claire was awfully surprised to see Jon. "Hey, you're back! Why didn't you return my calls?"

Jon blinked and checked his phone again. "I didn't get any calls from you. I bet there's something wrong with my phone because I didn't get any from Jack either, and he said he left a few messages."

If Claire had any clue those messages had ended up elsewhere, she would have panicked. As it was, she simply smirked. "Well, then, you're in for a surprise."

"I could use a few good surprises," he told her as he flopped on the end of the bed. "It has been the week from hell."

The surprises could wait. She sat down next to him. "What happened?"

"Aliens, evil alien plague, being quarantined until everything was taken care of. It was a bit of a nightmare."

He really didn't want to bring up the fact that a lot of people had died.

Claire leaned over and hugged him. "I'm sorry. Are you okay?"

Hey, hugs were good and... actually more than good. "Fine. I had to watch crappy football and deal with frozen pizzas all week."

"That sucks. But what were you saying about Jack wanting to take us out?" she asked.

"He's offered to take us to a late Christmas dinner."

[wantstocheer]

"I'm up for it," she said. "Do you wanna order Chinese or something tonight?"

"It's that or hang around the common rooms until someone else cooks for us."

"Well, I could always cook," Claire pointed out. "But I feel like being lazy."

[asgardcreated]

"Chinese it is, then." He handed Claire her cellphone and grinned. "Fried rice, egg rolls, General Tso's chicken... the works."

Claire took the phone and gave it a confused look.

"How do I have messages and no missed calls?"

She accessed her voicemail. The first message made no sense whatsoever. The second message kind of freaked her out.

"Uh oh."
