So I've been living in California and studying at Berkeley for a little over two months now. And recently, a lot of things have really made me question my attendance here. I have some thoughts but I don't think advice is what you need, at least, until you've decided on what you want advice on. I do think that the ever-frustrating F (finances) is something that always needs to be considered, because you don't want to mortgage away your future completely for the present (nor the reverse).
I do wonder if you could find work with a tutoring service in the city. In Vancouver, I could find many tutoring services and that's even with me specifically stating I couldn't do any instruction in Chinese. With your skills, I suspect you'd be able to sell yourself well to be a good HS tutor... but again, I'm not sure how it factors in timewise. Tutoring always took a lot longer than I expected, mostly because it included having to travel to someone's house as well.
Think about it all, and maybe you will come up with something that will be the happy medium for you. If it includes majorly reorganizing what you see yourself doing now, so be it. It's not anything for any of us to say, though, because the decision is yours, and I have faith you'll make the one that suits you best.
