More taxes!

The Republicans are staging "tea parties" across the country to protest taxes, and apparently to protest not having a real political party any more. Apparently the history books were wrong, and the Boston tea party was about taxes, not about representative government. What do you say to the folks who think these tea parties are a good thing? It's got to be an angle that could work here in Tukwila (the sticks). After giving it some thought, here's what I got.

I want more taxes. Everyone needs to pitch in to make the country work, and I'll pay my share, but I want taxes to go up for the people who are holding out.

Everyone that's getting one over on the government, I want them taxed more. The corporations hiding their finances in some off-shore bank, I want them taxed more. The corporations that get big checks from the government for all their political donations, I want them to pay more taxes. I'd like to see maybe a 75% tax on any money that a corporation gets from the government thanks to some earmark. Let the rest of us get most of that money back. The rich people with their high-priced lawyers arranging sweet loopholes, I want to see them taxed and the loopholes closed. I pay my taxes. Let them pay theirs.

I'd like to see dope smokers paying taxes like everyone else. Legalize that shit and tax it. You know how much tax revenue is just walking away because it's being spent in the black market? Turn the light on in the black market and tax that shit. Cigarettes and booze get taxed. Let the pot heads pony up their share, fucking slackers.

Prostitutes, too, ought to pay their taxes just like the waitresses at Hooters do.

The pot heads and hookers that are in prison, kick 'em out. They're sitting there taking classes, getting health care, and shit all at our expense. They should be out here working their asses off like everyone else. Get them off the government paycheck and get them working and paying taxes just like the rest of us.

Corporate farms with their government subsidies, they need to be taxed more. They're using that government money to choke our population with cheap, greasy, high-calorie food. All those big government checks going to corporate farms need to be taxed like 75%.

Televangelists need to pay up like anyone else. They make millions of dollars pretending to be humble servants of God's congregations, avoiding taxes on religious grounds, but they're just fakers. There ought to be like a 90% tax on all income earned by fleecing gullible people.

I'd like to lay a nice big tax on the oil industry, while we're at it. Any industry that's going to impel our nation into misbegotten wars needs to pay extra. If our boys are going to bleed for big oil, big oil better be ready to show its gratitude in cold hard cash.

And I want the rich to pay more. Right now they're paying what Bush wanted them to pay, and he was wrong about everything. Bush cut taxes for the rich and look where we ended up. Let's put them back where they used to be.

I love my country and I don't mind paying my fair share to support her. I just want it to be a fair share.
