I actually moved on. Not even faked moved on (like, I check LiveJournal once a week or so, but don't bother commenting) but rather forget that LiveJournal existed until I get email updates regarding it.

I don't really have any room to be holier than thou about it; I am spending a lot of time on Facebook. It requires less of an investment (since no one writes anything in excess of 160 characters, there are few expectations of me and not checking your friends updates for a week won't kill you). I also have a friends list that consists of people I either actively socialize with or work with on a day-to-day basis, so it feels more relevant to me.

I miss writing, when I think about it, but I really had no time for it anyway. The switch to management fundamentally changed my day-to-day existence. Buying a house fundamentally impacted my free time on weekends. Being in a relationship fundamentally reduced my need for validation from others.

Whenever my LiveJournal paid account comes due, I am going to let it expire. I think this chapter of my life, which really started as part of the whole cliche introspective search for myself, love and purpose, is largely over. I am established in a job, a house, a social circle and still committed to what will probably go down in the Guinness Book of World Records for the longest-running long-distance relationship ever.

So...
