Starting Monday, I am supposed to take a more active role managing an additional project/team. The good news is that O., my old nemesis, leaves the company this Friday, so I have once again have skirted the discomfort of having to manage his surly ass. The bad news is that he was the only 100% dedicated development resource on what is ostensibly a high profile, high priority project. I thought my clever shenanigans netted us a replacement, but today karma kicked me in the ass when O.'s replacement was bribed by his current team to remain with a new set of responsibilities. This means, starting Monday, I suddenly not only have twice the work, conflicting daily Scrum meetings (both at 11), and a new team that is both known (even without O.) for its personality issues and seriously understaffed relative to the work and priority of the project.
In short, it's Christmas in June and my gift is a clusterfuck.
I smell heartburn!
work,
o. (coworker),
welcome to management
