The Joys of Foosball

Jun 11, 2001 18:35

I managed to get little or nothing done today (at work).

Why did I attach that parenthetical addendum when I know very likely I will get little or nothing done when I go home (short of the usual preparing dinner and watching television before bed)?

Hmmm...

We were finally given leave to submit code changes this afternoon (around 5 pm). Charming... In theory, I could finally knock a handful of bugs off my growing list; alas, they continue to add more.

I'm thinking today's latest wild goose chase can be farmed out to someone working on the appropriate module as opposed to me (working on my foosball game).

T. and I just finished quite the little four game tournament with two reasonably talented and far more experienced players. It ended in a draw. T. was playing like shit and really my cheap opening shots are the only reason we scored as well as we did. This is not to cast dispersions upon T.'s substantial foosball skills, but rather to suggest that, were he in top form, we would have crushed.

G.'s absence is doing wonders for my game.

Though I still refuse to be one of the dorks who sneaks out to the table alone so he can practice his pull and pop kicks.

For now.

Fuck it. I guess I'll go home, go grocery shopping, and eat some dinner. I can make like a worker bee tomorrow morning.

I need to workout sometime (now that kickboxing is on hold for a couple weeks). I suppose I could try tomorrow morning.

Blech.

Is there a way to do a search on the contents of all the public live journals? I suppose I could write a robot but that'd be a lot of work. I just want to know what percentage of entries contain the word "suicide." I get my kicks off hitting the "Find Users - Random" link, but, really, so many of these people are interchangeable. Clinically depressed high school girls rambling about suicide and parents.

These people need to try Mother Nature's mood enhancer - foosball .

work, g. (ex-manager), t. (coworker), foosball, livejournal
