Ficlet: April Rain (Snape/Percy )(1/13)

It’s a warm night, but its very chilly in the Great Hall, I have my arms wrapped about my body to try and keep warm, my lighter school robes are doing nothing for the environment here in the hall.  Why was it so cold? The lack of warm bodies in the vicinity, no, that can’t be, I had been here countless times, and countless nights and it was comfortably warm, then what is it?

I hear a noise behind me and I turn around, and there he is waiting for me in the doorway of the hall, his tall figure announcing that he was done with his rounds.  Once he saw me catch site of him he slinks back into the shadows.  I wait a few moments, fixing a couple of the chairs that were out of place at some of the house tables.  Once I was sure that I had waited long enough I leave the hall and make my way quickly across the entrance hall to the door that lead to the dungeons.

I hear my footsteps as I go down the winding hallways, once one passes a certain point it the floors and walls become moist and slick, so you have to be cautious when walking.  I am unsure if it is because I am graduating in a few days time, or if the memory that the candles gave me I am finding myself drawn back to a memory from long ago.  One of my first days here at Hogwarts,  I was trying to find my way down to Potions Classroom A, I ended up getting lost and began to cry.  Of course I was early, I had made it my goal to be to class before any of the other students just to beat the rush.  I was curled up into a ball when he walked by.

“What are you doing Weasley? Get off the ground and get to class.” Grabbing me by the collar of my robes he pulled me up, and stared at me until he let go of my robes.

I nodded and began walking the way I thought I had came from, but he grabs a hold of my arm and turns me around.  “My class is this way Mr. Weasley, and you best remember it.”

My initial confrontation with Snape had made me cautious of the man for most of my school career.  I had heard stories from Bill about him, who had him for his 7th year potions.  He had talked highly about the professor, explained that he was a very intelligent man, and was not to be taken lightly.  If only I understood what he meant at that age.

So here I am, standing in front of the door I have found myself standing in front of many nights this past year.  I rasp three times on the door, and it opens to reveal a face.  Pale, with hallow cheeks and eyes, and a nose that appeared to have been broken at least once, but I knew that was not the case.  He steps to the side and lets me in, quickly shutting the door behind us.

“Good Evening Mr. Weasley,” The dark haired man says as he opens the door enough to let me through, then he slams it shut.  Then walking to the bookshelf near the kitchenette and picks up his half drank glass, wine, he takes a drink and looks at me, eyeing me over as if he’s never seen me before.  I shrug off my robe and place it folded neatly on top of a desk chair as I make my way over to him.  He sets down his glass and begins to walk away from me, and that’s when I wrap my arms around him, pressing him to me, resting my head on his shoulder.  He leaned into my embrace.  We stood there for a few moments before he turned to look at me and place a kiss to my lips.  “I’ve missed you Percy.”

Kissing him back I tightened the embrace, it had been to long since we’d been in each others company.  What with my NEWTs this year and him having OWL and exams to take care of.  This last quarter had been horribly busy.

Pulling away Severus smirks at me, and takes my hand in his, walking to the door to his room.  I had the feeling that this would be a night that I wouldn’t forget for a long while.
