Speirs had been awake for hours. He'd watched the passage of the sun under the curtain, watched the bar of light sneak forward, gain strength, and he'd watched it over the rise and fall of Bruce's chest. He hadn't slept well, either, but he'd expected that.
This was the first person, outside of Stoshi, who he'd spent the night with. There had never been reason or opportunity until now, and he wasn't sure there was even reason for this. What the hell was he doing, anyway? He'd gone home with him. What a disgusting mistake.
Speirs let his eyes drift from the curtained window to the open bedroom door and the living room beyond. It would be so easy to get up and walk out. He never had to see Bruce again, did he?
He nodded to himself and slid silently out of bed, ducking to pull on his jeans. He had to cross the room to get his shirt so he padded quietly to Bruce's side of the bed, pausing as he stooped to retrieve the white t-shirt to look the man in the eye.
No matter. He tugged the shirt over his head as he started to the bedroom door.
