Upromise

For those of you with a Sallie Mae student loan, a 529 Savings account (savings account with tax breaks specifically for saving for educational purposes), or friends/family with either of those:

I found a new program which has corporations contribute to your savings for education or has them help pay down your current debt. What you basically have to do is register your credit/debit card number and link it to your Sallie Mae loan or 529 Savings account. They get informed of any related Upromise purchases, and contribution is made to your account. I do not expect to pay off my loans any time soon, so I think this may help a little bit. Every 3 months they contribute any balances of $25 or more to your account. It kind of works like an advantage card, where certain items give a contribution (instead of a discount), except it links up directly to your credit/debit card.

Some companies that contribute are:
Giant Eagle (the main reason I signed up)
Target
Sprint
Exxon
McDonald's
Mastercard
+ many more...

The economy is expected to get real bad real soon, so every penny will help in my opinion. Let me know if you have any questions.
