terror

This is an e-mail I got from my friend Joel who lives outside of Madrid, Spain I just found this on my MSN e-mail and was shocked reading it. I have been on a mission trip to Spain about 2 years ago and Joel's family does mission work in Spain but they have lived there most of his life. Anyways if your interested read it.

hey,
i'm sure you've heard about everything going on here. it's pretty crazy, cause everything is so close to where i live. the terrorists put the bombs on the trains in alcala (which is the suburb of madrid i live in)....that's where all the trains started from. i have friends that were on trains when this happened. they were on trains going towards alcala, but it's still freaky, cause the station that they get on at every morning was the one where one of the bombs was. their train left from the station, and one minute later, the one coming from alcala with the bomb on it, exploded at that same station. they kept on going tho, to the next station, and then the next station was the one where the other bomb exploded, so they got there just after that one went off. their train stopped and they had to get out and walk through all the bodies and the people bleeding. it's just so terrible....they were in shock the rest of the day...they saw things that they will never forget...and they aren't the type of images i would want to remember...
i had another friend in the main station atocha. she heard the bombs go off really close and then everybody in the station just went into a panic, people running, screaming, trampling each other, thankfully, she got out of there and went back home. there have been bomb threats in alcala at the train station, in metros, all over. none of them turn out to be anything, but it's just scary, cause we go by there so often and we live and are around all the places you see on tv. yesterday, i went with my friend to a manifestation in alcala in the morning. there were a lot of people jumping and shouting and just crazy. then tonight, my friend and i went to atocha and we jumped this fence and we were able to get really close to the actually train that exploded. we saw the massive holes in the train cars, we saw the guys working on it. it was just very impacting....
then after we saw that, we went to the huge manifestation in madrid that 2.5 million people attended. that was just so insane....i have never seen so many people in my life before. it was crazy. everywhere you looked or tried to go, there were just masses of people all packed together.
i got separated from my friend in the middle of it and it's impossible to try to find somebody in that. i tried calling him on my phone but the phone services were packed and i could never get through. i finally did tho and we met up again about 2 kilometers away from where we had gotten separated. all this time it was raining like crazy and everyone was poking each other with their umbrellas. i got the metro and then the train back home, but i was so drenched when i got home...anyways....i think i'm just gonna relax today...this has really impacted me...it's amazing how God takes care of us all when we need him the most. it's incredible that no one i know got hurt through all of this. pray for those who did tho, and pray for the families of the victims.
Joel
