Co. Wexford, Co. Wicklow, Co. Carlow

well well, we went camping this weekend again. we drove out to Co. Wexford on friday night and stayed at a small campground a little ways out from a small town. it was pretty country, took a while to get there. we drove through New Ross which had a replica ship docked in its port. And we drove past a castle/mansion on a hill. both of which are open to tourists during the day, but we just did the pass-by. thought wed get there by like 6 to setup camp, but really it was like 9:30 and then we finally ate dinner and went to sleep when it got dark sometime near 11.

man the sun came up at like 5:30, but we slept in until like 9ish. we went over to wexford town, walked around, people were out shopping. the main area wasnt as big as the area in downtown waterford. the port was pretty in the morning and the weather was good. no rain, only needed a light sweatshirt. then we drove the coastal road up through the county. and by "coastal" it was really a ways in mostly lined with hedges and only periodic views of the water. so pretty much, i would have preferred to take the a little bit faster, more inland road. we stopped at a nice beach, pretty.. but windy and too cold for even sandals really. so, no swimming, onward we went to the middle-south of co. wicklow to our next campground. that place was like a holiday village for people escaping dublin with kids and dogs. it was on a river and also had its own lake. it was pretty crowded, hard for us to adjust to the put your stuff up wherever in the middle of the field style here, but we made do. there were enough openings that we picked a nice grassy spot which worked out well. we ate lunch, delicious. then we went back out to a national forest and walked some long trails, much of the area was planned, and tended. there was a house on the land but it cost at least 7/ person. and i dont think you could see the whole thing. then we went a couple towns away to where a valley and two lakes meet + there are monastic ruins. that was pretty cool, there was a big tower as part of the ruins and the path with views of the valley and lakes was very nice. back at the campground kids were running amuck. the campers kitchen had burners to cook with if you paid a euro, so we opted not to cook the beans. i was seriously craving beans. we had chicken salad for dinner and it was really good, in the end i didnt miss the beans. we also had peach-blueberry cobbler and it was DELICIOUS, i am ready to make that again, and it only gets better when it is warm or with ice cream. awesome. we started drinking and i am pretty sure passed out before it got totally dark out and before some of the little kiddies even went to bed. the kids playing in their pajamas though??!! they were just going to get them dirty, i dont get it lol. again the sun came up at like 5:30 and i heard people around making noise right around then. luckily though we slept more. we packed up easy and went on a scenic tour through co. carlow, with a really nice stop at a small cafe in a very pretty town. my mouth was watering over their food but we were both full. the mocha was spectacular, like best i've ever had. we stopped and walked around a couple towns, we saw an old ruined church and then an old monastary and then we were most of the way home and that was that.

we have now visited all the counties in southern ireland and need to venture more north to continue our exploration. will we see all the counties? i'm not sure but i guess thats the goal.
